Two teams from Railway Union took part in the M50 tournament on June 21st in Westmanstown.

This is an inter-regional event between the four regions bordering the M50 (hence its name!).

Sue Power, Ide Gavin, Colette Stokes and Orla Staunton played in the Novice section and won 3rd prize, while In the Inter B section Fiona O Gorman, Mary Seaver, Caroline Crowley and Michelle Moloney were also delighted to win 3rd prize! A great outing for the Railway teams!!

Dublin South were joint winners sharing the honours with the Eastern Region.

Railway Union Teams Competition

The inaugural Railway Union Teams Competition took place over two sessions in May and was thoroughly enjoyed by everyone who participated, some of whom never having played or scored a team match before! It was so sucessful that it will now be added to the annual club calendar of competitions.

A lovely trophy has been donated to the club by Fiona O'Gorman for this competition and was presented to this year's winners at the Summer bridge party on June 13th.

Congratulations to the winners who were Caroline Crowley, Mary Kane, Bernie O'Donell and Aine Ni Chaoimh.

4Fun Teams
4Fun Teams

Some of our members played in the National 4Fun Teams on June 6th having qualified earlier in the year to represent the South Dublin region.
This is a team event where the team is made up of a master playing with a novice and an intermediete A playing with an intermediate B.

The Railway Union team were Dermot O' Brien (master), Niamh Vaughan (novice), Kieran Crowley (Inter A), Maeve Flanagan (Inter B) and Mary Seaver (Inter B) who played on another team from the region. Whilst they weren't amongst the prize winners they thoroughly enjoyed the event!

John Burke Trophy
John Burke Trophy

Congratulations to Kevin O'Toole and Mary Seaver on winning the John Burke Cup 2014 this year.

This trophy was kindly donated by Mary Burke in honour of her father, John Burke, who was an avid bridge player and bridge teacher.

It is an annual competition which is a draw for partners on the night which adds to the excitment!

Presentation of this beautiful cup takes place at our Summer Party each June.

JJ Murphy Trophy National Novice Pairs

Congratulations to Cassandra Byrne and Michelle Moloney, who fresh from their sucess at the recent Easter competition headed to Wexford  to play in the National Novice Pairs and finished a fantastic 2nd overall.

There was only 0.12% separating them from the winners so very well done, brilliant result!
