Railway Union Bridge Club Newsletter Autumn 2025           

 

Martin Cowley Cup

Our first major event of the season, The Martin Cowley Cup, will take place over two weeks, November 17th and November 24th. In this competition members must play with the same partner for both evenings.
 

 

Monday Evening Bridge

Monday evening pairs bridge takes place every week (other than on bank holidays). Please be seated by 7.15 p.m. sharp, payment is by card. 

 

Thursday Morning Bridge

Thursday Morning Bridge usually takes place every week from October through May. Play starts at 10.00 a.m. sharp. Please be seated by 9.45 a.m. Payment is by card.

Teams night 2025

Our Teams Night took place on Monday 20th October. It was a packed house with 20 teams competing. The winning team comprised Graeme Williams, Jennifer Nolan, Mary Seaver & Maeve Flanagan - congratulations on a great performance. 
 

The other teams in the winners enclosure were:

Joint 2nd place - Avril Barry, Fiona McNicholas, Mary Kane & Pat Hickey along with Nora Pat Stewart, Marian White, Paula Clancy & Cassandra Byrne

4th place - Yvonne Flanagan, Rita McAlinden, Paddy & Margaret Moran

Joint 5th place - Ruth Maher, Joan Casey, Eileen O’Regan & Eimer O’Rourke along with Tony Hayes, Walter McNicholas, Charles Alken & Anthony Alken.

 

2025 Railway Union Handicap Cup

The inaugural Railway Union Handicap Cup took place on Monday 6th October 2025. 34 pairs competed for the magnificent cup presented by Mervyn, on behalf of the Whaley family. The winners were Mary Masterson and Marian Flynn with Walter McNicholas and Tony Hayes coming second.

Railway Union Bridge Club AGM 2025

The Railway Union Bridge Club AGM took place on 1st September 2025. In addition to a full agenda, the Committee for 2025/2026 was appointed. Eimer O'Rourke handed over the reins to Owen Hensey, President of the Club for 2025/26.

Welcome to Railway Union Bridge Club

Welcome to Railway Union Bridge Club, located in Sandymount, Dublin 4.

We are a very friendly and social club playing on Monday nights and Thursday mornings in Railway Union Sports Club at Park Ave, Sandymount, Dublin 4.

We are affiliated to the Contract Bridge Association Ireland (CBAI) and belong to the Dublin South Region, with many  of our members playing in leagues and competitions organised by the region.

Membership:  Application forms may be downloaded from the Membership section of this website. They are also available from the club secretary at railwayunionbridge@gmail.com .

On Monday night, guests can play max 3 x per year (except Major competitions).

Currently guests are not restricted on Thursday morning (subject to review).
