From the President - 4 March 2025 |
The new bidding boxes have arrived, and our members are using them with varying degrees of success. I know we will quickly become comfortable using this new system. I wish to thank the RACV Club for purchasing them as it is a good innovation for the club.
The information re the Healesville weekend has been circulated and I am looking forward to seeing a large number of members at this popular event.
Members will need to book accommodation directly with the RACV Club. We ask you to use the online booking form to register for bridge, so we know how many are playing.
Thank you to the members who have submitted their names for the Inter club match at the MCC. We have a full team but if anyone wishes to be a reserve please contact me.

From the President - 1 December 2024 |
A teacher recently spoke about her teaching bridge to young people
She remarked that she was not only teaching bridge but was teaching them life skills, partnership understanding, risk management, dealing with victory modestly, dealing with defeat graciously, patience, understanding, accepting partner’s mistakes, avoiding criticism, putting a bad result behind you and biting one’s tongue…….the list went on and on.
That’s bridge. Thank you Kim for giving me the article.
What a wonderful turn out the club has been having on the Monday session.
I must congratulate Robert Chambers on all his efforts to ensure everyone is able to play bridge by securing the larger room.
Thank you very much.
I look forward to seeing many of you at the Christmas bridge and lunch.

From the President - 25 September 2024 |
I recently read an article in a bridge magazine that included this quote from the Chair of New Zealand Bridge.
"Poor behaviour by seasoned and experienced players is a real turn off.
"We need to call out these people, as we are working hard to grow numbers and do not need forces working against everything we are trying to do.
"You have two ears and one mouth, so listen twice as much as you speak."
Not only does this apply to us as bridge players, but is applicable to life in general.
