RACV Bridge Club’s 10th Annual Swiss Pairs Congress

The RACV Bridge Club held its 10th annual Swiss Pairs Congress on Sunday, 23 August 2026. The event attracted 92 pairs—the highest number of entries since the congress began.

Leigh Gold directed the congress, assisted by Ben Kingham.

What is a Swiss Pairs Congress?

A Swiss pairs Congress is a pairs competition that uses a “Swiss draw” to match pairs with similar cumulative results, creating increasingly even contests. Events comprise several rounds of a fixed number of boards. Pairs keep the same number throughout and are initially matched randomly or by ranking. After each round, results are published, the field is re-ranked, and pairs with similar standings meet, usually without repeat opponents. Final placings are determined after the last round. Players receive an overall ranking and a win–loss–draw record, with masterpoints often awarded for match results and leading finishes. Events may use IMP or matchpoint scoring, so players should check the entry details because the scoring method affects strategy.

The 11^th Annual Swiss pairs Congress run by the RACV Bridge Club will be held on Sunday 22^nd August 2027.
