Congratulations to Ivor Snowden, winner of the April segment of the Putney BC Ladder competition.
With the win Ivor takes the £50 bi-monthly prize. The downside is that Ivor also receives a 100pt handicap, sending him back down the field. This clears the way for a different leader to win the next prize, which will be based on standings at the end of June. As of early June, John Shepperd has a good lead with Jacqui Pearson and Cara Howard next in line.
The competition works like this: Everyone who plays in the main duplicate on Monday evenings participates in the Putney Bridge Club Ladder. Your Ladder score is the percentage by which you beat 50% in any week's duplicate. Accumulate Ladder points by playing and doing well regularly. Each two months the current Ladder leader receives a £50 prize, but then gets a handicap. You can win more than once but each time you win the handicap becomes greater.
We hope the Ladder will prove popular, as it is in the other clubs in Ned Paul's 'stable'. Good luck and keep climbing!
Ladder Winners 2019:
Thank you to all who participated in this year's Chiswick Cafe Bridge. Full results can be found here.
