Memorial Bridge Game & Celebration of Life

Oh, what a day!

On May 30th we gathered to play bridge and honor our dear friend Bob Boyd. The game was scheduled to begin at 10:00. Family and friends were arriving at 12:30. 

Moments before game time the lights went out!

After a half hour of darkness, realizing this was not going to be fixed soon, a unanimous vote led to the game being played by cell phone flashlight and old fashioned travelers.

(Some members had never before seen travelers; many of us needed a review to use them)

We moved from table to table carefully in the darkness. We went without coffee! We double checked our bidding boxes and struggled to follow suit, differentiating the spades from the clubs, the hearts from the diamonds. Each of us at some point came to the same conclusion-how amazing was Bob to do it with no sight at all!  

The electricity never returned but at 2:11 PM a meteor exploded off the coast of Massachusetts, just as the testimonials ended and the luncheon began!

All who knew Bob were forever changed for the better. We will never forget him and we will never forget the day we honored him. 

Thank you to Bob's family for making us part of his celebration and for hosting the luncheon. Like Bob, you are a part of Puritan's family!

Good News!

Puritan offers bridge lessons to new players and/or players who would like a refresher of basics.

Lessons take place at 9:00 A.M.

$10 per person.

Each year Puritan Bridge Club awards a $1,000 scholarship to a Braintree High School Senior. 

Noreen Grant is the recipient this year. She will be attending Curry College in the fall.

We welcome feedback from our members!

We host five games each week.
Monday's game is for 499ers, starting at 10:15 am.
Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday games are Open games, starting at 10:15 am.
The Saturday Open game starts at noon. 

On Thursdays we offer lessons for new players in non ACBL sanctioned sessions.
9:30 for lesson 10 to 12:15 for Beginners-Plus - Supervised play of the hands.  Cost is $10.

Membership fees are $40 per year full time and $20 per year half time.

For members-table fees are $11

For non-member-table fees are $13

StaC games are $2.00 more.
