Uploading BBO pairs results onto bridgwebs.com
Let us consider a scenario where there has been an online tournament on BBO whose results you want to load into your bridgewebs.com site (e.g. http://bridgewebs.com/prba). There is a utility called "BBOExtractor that enables you to do that. The following instructions are based on what I read on http://mirgo2.co.uk/bboextractor/ on May 19, 2020. Before you can use that utility you will need to
- Install the chrome browser on your machine if you don't already have it
- Install the chrome extension called "BBO extractor" into your Chrome browser
Now suppose you need to load results for a tournament held on (say) May 18, 2020 whose results can be found on bbo using this url : http://webutil.bridgebase.com/v2/tview.php?t=7594-1589797792. (Note - you can get this url in a number of ways - just make sure that the final url is the url for the entire tournament results and not the results for a specific player (e.g. if you are using a url that has extraneous parameters such as http://webutil.bridgebase.com/v2/tview.php?t=7594-1589797792&username=drbehere you will run into errors)
In chrome, go to the url for the match - you should see the results that look something like this

While still in that chrome tab, click on the icon for the BBO extractor extension - in its current form, the icon has the text "BBX" in it - by the time you read this it may be something different. Click on that icon and allow it to do its work for some time. When it is done, you will see a pop-up message that looks like this:

Click on OK and you will in due course get a message with the following text:
BBO Extractor:
Calculation of Makeable Contracts has completed. PBN file should be in the Browser's Downloads folder
The end result of this exercise is that it will have created two files in the browser's download directory. One is a CSV file with the tournament results while the other file is a pbn file that contains the hands and double dummy results. The file names were called
- 7594_Pairs_PUNE_THANE_DOMBIVALI_2020-05-18.csv
- 7594_Pairs_PUNE_THANE_DOMBIVALI_2020-05-18.pbn
Next we need to generate an XML file out of these two files that can be uploaded to our bridgewebs site. To do this, go to http://mirgo2.co.uk/bboextractor/ in a new browser tab and click on the icon labelled "Start BBOToXML" . It will show a form in which you will need to specify the "BBO Event Link". For our example this should be set to http://webutil.bridgebase.com/v2/tview.php?t=7594-1589797792. Then choose the option to "Create XML for Bridgewebs". It will ask you to point it to the CSV file and you will need to do that. It will throw up a warning that looks like this:

Just click on OK and it will print a message indicating that the xml file has been generated in the downloads folder. You may also get the following message:

You can ignore this message. Now you have the two files needed to upload the results into bridgewebs. The generated xml file contains the results while the deal information is contained in the pbn file. Use the usual process to upload data into bridgewebs and you are good to go
