Guide to setting up team matches during a PRBA online event
This guide has been written for players participating in online team events conducted by PRBA. It was written for the "Amanora Lockdown Swiss teams" event held on May 9th 2020 but most of what is written here should work for future events as well with minor modifications. The process of setting up team matches is quite error-prone so we recommend that you follow the process spelt out below exactly so that you do not end up wasting time.
Preliminary preparations
- First locate the draw for the next round on our website at https://www.bridgewebs.com/prba. This will be a link called something like "Amanora lockdown draw round 1".
- Make sure that you are looking at the draw for the correct round and event.
- Sometimes there might be draws for multiple rounds posted simultaneously.
- Similarly we may be conducting multiple events at the same time so that could also result in confusion.
- Locate your team name/number in the draw and check whether you are the "Home" team or the "Away" team. If you are the "Away" team you will not be setting up the match but you will still need to do the following:
- Identify the four players in your team who will play this match and get their BBO ids. Send these ids along with the compass directions they will sit in e.g. NS - rvg/abahulkar EW - samshrini/rvenky
- Find out the contact person for the other team (you can get this from the "Team Roster" page on https://www.bridgewebs.com/prba)
- Let the contact for the other team know the BBO ids of your players. Ensure that there are no typos in the list of BBO ids you submit
- Ensure that all your players are logged into BBO 10 minutes before start time. This is important since it does take that much time to start a team match on BBO
Setting up the Team match
If you are the "Home" team your responsibilities are more onerous. You will need to set up the match as well as submit the results at the end of the match. Here is the process of setting up the BBO team match
- Get the list of your opponent BBO ids
- Add the four opponents as your friends on BBO (you can unfriend them later after the match is over) -see screenshot below

- Do likewise for all players in your own team
- Ten minutes before match start time check that all eight players are logged into BBO. If not, get them to start logging in
- Start setting up the team match. Under "Play or watch bridge" choose "Competitive" and then "Team Matches". Click on "Create Team Match"
- Fill up the section called "Identification"
- Under title, provide some descriptive name such as "Amanora_Round1_Table2_24versus13" where 1 refers to the round number, 2 refers to the table number, 24 is the number of the home team and 13 is the Away team
- Description field can be empty
- Team 1 should be set to the name of the Home team
- Team 2 should be set to the name of the Away team

- Fill up section called "Options"
- Choose "IMPs" for "Form of Scoring"
- Set the number of boards to the appropriate number. For the Amanora team event this should be set to 10
- Verify that the number of boards set in the previous step is correctly set! BBO has some issue due to which it sometimes changes that number to 30
- Uncheck all the four options below:
- "Allow Kibitzers" - should be unchecked
- "Allow Kibitzers to talk to players" - should be unchecked
- "Allow Undos" - should be unchecked
- "Barometer scoring" - should be unchecked

- Go to section "Reserve Seats"
- Under the section with the Home team's name you will see four boxes. These are to be filled with the BBO ids of the four players of the home teams. Make sure that the ids go into the correct boxes. The North player's id should go into the North box and so on.
- Similarly fill the section with the Away team's name with the BBO ids of your opponents.
- Now click on "Create Team Match". You might get a message saying that one or more players are not online. If that happens you will have to get the missing players to log in and retry.
- IMPORTANT - DO NOT CLOSE THE "CREATE TEAM MATCH" WINDOW UNTIL THE MATCH ACTUALLY STARTS. If you close the window prematurely you will have to reenter all the data all over again!
- When all eight players are online and have accepted the invitations the match will automatically start.
Submitting result after match is complete
After you have finished playing all the boards, the Home teams contact person will have to submit the results using the online form at https://www.bridgewebs.com/prba. Click on the link entitled "Submit Results" and this will pop up a form. Enter the data requested in that form and submit. The form is self explanatory. Once you have submitted your result, the result will appear at the bottom of the page. Do not submit the same result multiple times
