Minutes of the Board Meetings

At the moment the minutes are always a month behind in publication as they have to be approved at the next meeting by Board Members.

Meanwhile the Chairman will issue a News Flash should there be any urgent item that the members should be notified.

PREMIER CLUB COMPETITIONS - CORONATION CUP AND AUTUMN HANDICAP

The next Club competitions are the Premier events - Coronation Cup (non-handicapped) and Autumn Handicap (handicapped). These two competitions will both be two-session events, will be held simultaneously on Sunday 20th October 2024 commencing at 11:15am (please be seated by 11am) and expected to finish by approximately 6:30pm. Both events will break for lunch around 2:15pm, which will be catered for by the Club. Tea, coffee and other beverages will be free all day.

Costs for this event will be £15 per head including food, would partners please sign up on the notice on the Club noticeboard as soon as possible so that the Catering Team can plan accordingly.

 

FINDING A PARTNER

The Club has now created a WhatsApp Group to enable members to find a partner. Please contact Columb Healy via WhatsApp to join this group. Columb's number can be accessed from the Members Information section of this website under Member List.

Poulton Bridge Club is situated in the centre of Poulton-le-Fylde, which is located 3 miles east of Blackpool. The Club has approximately 200+ members who own the Club. There are two rooms for playing bridge. The main Bridge Room can facilitate 20 tables and there are 10 tables in a smaller room (which is the Teaching Room). We offer courses for 'Beginners' and 'Improvers'. There is parking for around 14 cars & further parking (pay) within 25 yards of the Club.  Within five minutes walk from the Club there are plenty of dining facilities including a Wetherspoon's pub called The Poulton Elk, which is at the rear of the car park.

The Club benefits from air conditioning, heating and a disabled access. Members experiencing difficulties when using the Club are encouraged to inform the Club Secretary. Smoking is not allowed within the building. 

Duplicate Bridge sessions are as follows.

MONDAY       AFTERNOON          1.30 p.m.

TUESDAY       EVENING             7.15 p.m.

WEDNESDAY   MORNING            10.00 a.m.  (This is a session specifically for members only. It is to assist students who have recently completed a course as there will be help available and also for any member who enjoys social bridge.)

NEW MEMBERS, PROSPECTIVE MEMBERS & VISITORS TO THE AREA ARE VERY WELCOME TO JOIN IN OUR SESSIONS.

Cost of duplicate sessions is £3.00. per person for members and £5.00 for guests.

Hot drinks such as tea/coffee/hot chocolate & biscuits are available. There is a water machine for cold drinks.

Scoring is via BRIDGEMATE and results are usually available within 15 minutes of the last board being played or for viewing on the website, with an option to 'play the hand again'.

A REMINDER OF SEATING AT THE CLUB

 Everyone who intends to play in a session must be seated at least 15 minutes before play begins.

 They should then take their places when asked to by the TD.

This is to assist the TD in working out the movement according to the number of attendees. 

The TD has the right to refuse admittance to anyone arriving after the requested time, so please ensure you arrive at least 15 minutes before the session begins.

PARKING AT THE BRIDGE CLUB

Please note that car parking at the Club has now changed.  

All spaces marked M or T are now available for Club Members except for two specific spaces.

One in the corner on your right as you enter the car park. This space is reserved for the new tenant.

One parking space to the left hand side of the Fire Door is reserved for the Tournament Director and signed accordingly.

LCBA COUNTY TEAMS OF 8 BRIDGE LEAGUE

 

 

Poulton Bridge Club has entered 4 teams in the inaugural year of the LCBA County Teams of 8 Bridge League, this has replaced the old Fylde Bridge League.

Team results to date are: -

POULTON 1 - Captain - Jeff Wilkins - Match 1 - Beat Lytham 1 - 13-7, Match 2 - Lost to Preston 1 - 3-17, Match 3 - Lost to Bolton 1 - 6-14 and Match 4 - Beat Southport 1 - 12-8.

POULTON 2 - Captain - Elizabeth Fewster - Match 1 - Beat Bolton 2 - 13-7, Match 2 - Lost to Brierfield 1 - 4-16 and Match 3 - Lost to St. Annes 1 - 2-18
