It is with the most profound sadness that I report the passing of Jean, this afternoon (12/6) a few weeks short of her 97^th birthday. Four years ago Jean refused treatment and was given a prognososis of only a few months to live, but she remained stoic and cheerful and carried on playing bridge several times a week and also continued her spanish class! In recent weeks however, her health finally failed her and she died peacefully with her family at her bedside.

Jean (and her late husband Michael) moved to Worcestershire nearly 30 years ago and became a member of many local clubs. She was a founder member of Pershore and served on the committee for many years, receiving Life Membership in 2019 and continued to play twice weekly until very recently, usually partnering Liz, and also playing with her friends on BBO every week.

Jean (and Michael) were great friends to the club, making an immeasurable contribution, but she was well loved by all who knew her. An extremely clever woman, with an interesting career until she left it to bring up her family. Liz and I were honoured by being close friends and we can recall many happy evenings in her company – usually playing bridge!

Our deepest sympathy is extended to her children, David, Chris, Brenda and Alan and to her grandchildren.
