News 02 May Liz Copley

We have just heard that Liz Copley has passed away at the grand old age of 97

Liz was a much-valued member of our club, where she continued to play a great game of bridge, always with a sense of humour, and a wonderful "table presence" which will doubtless have endeared her to all who met her.

Liz was in service in WWII in the WRENS, and has led a full life since then. Liz was also both Captain and President of Society of London Lady Golf Captains and also Captain of Herts Lady Captains Golf Society.  She apparently ran the club bridge at Porters Park and was involved in the HLGCS bridge days until this year as she had found last year a bit too much for her.  She was still busy at Porters seeing the ladies off the tee on medal days. A very imposing lady and memorable with a great sense of humour.

She will be sadly missed at our bridge club and, no doubt, by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
