Reopening Plan |
REOPENING PLAN
- INTRODUCTION
This Plan has been drawn up in preparation for a return to face to face bridge at Pannal Bridge Club. It is intended to provide guidance and reassurance to members that there will be safe playing conditions. In preparing this plan we have used government regulations and advice. We will monitor our activities against government advice and revise this document where appropriate. Please remember that we all have our part to play in keeping each other safe.
- ORGANISATION
2.1 General
- All players must have had two Covid-19 vaccinations unless medically exempt. In the case of exemption please make this fact known to any committee member before attending a bridge session
- Any person who has been advised that they are clinically extremely vulnerable from Covid-19 should read the relevant government advice before deciding whether to attend a club evening. (If you have been identified as being clinically extremely vulnerable, you will previously have received a letter from the NHS or from your GP telling you this.)
The relevant Government advice can be found by clicking on the link below:
Government-guidance-on-shielding-and-protecting-extremely-vulnerable-persons-from-covid-19
- Players must not attend a club evening if they:
- have any Covid-19 symptoms (fever and tiredness, loss of taste, loss of smell, continuous cough, breathing difficulties)
- feel unwell
- have a cough or cold
- have a raised temperature
- are in quarantine
- have had a recent positive Covid-19 test
- have been advised to self-isolate
- We will not take players’ temperatures
- If players develop symptoms after attending a club evening, they should obtain a Covid-19 test and must notify the Tournament Director (TD) or Club Chairman as soon as possible. All players from that session will then be notified and recommended to arrange a Covid-19 test
- Wearing masks or face coverings is optional when seated at the table. Please respect other members decisions regarding wearing a mask
- Players should try to maintain at least one metre social distancing from other people at all times
2.2 Arrival
- There will be a limit of 8 tables in order to allow a suitable distance between tables to be maintained. If there is greater demand a booking system will be introduced
- Play will start promptly at 7.05 pm. Arrival after this time will mean you cannot play
• Players should arrive between 10 and 15 minutes before play starts to avoid congestion and to allow movements to be decided and boards etc to be distributed in plenty of time for a 7.05 pm start
- On arrival go straight to your chosen table and do not gather at the entrance or visit other tables to greet long lost friends
- North/South players should keep their coats at their table. East/West players should use either the coat stands or stage area for their coats
- Maintain social distancing (including when entering or leaving)
- Everyone to sit at their table as soon as possible
- Hand sanitiser will be available at every table, each person should sanitise their hands on arrival at a table and each time they move tables during play
- PLAYING ROOM ARRANGEMENTS
3.1 Movements
- Mitchell movements will be used
3.2 Table Money
- Table money will be £2.50 for members [£3.00 for visitors] from the 6th September 2021. This will be collected in the normal way
(After many years without an increase the Village Hall committee have raised the rental rates significantly, necessitating an increase in table money charges.)
- To minimise interaction, please bring the right money
- 3.3 List of Players
A sheet will be circulated just prior to play by the TD or his/her assistant to be completed by North at each table listing the players at their table. This form should be passed directly from North to North before being returned to the TD by North at the final table. This list will be retained as a record of those attending. In the case that visitors are present at a table then this must be clearly shown and contact details (email and/or phone) for that individual clearly recorded on the sheet. (On the reverse if necessary)
- DURING PLAY
4.1 Use of Boards
- Boards will be delivered to each table by the TD or his/her assistant prior to the start of play
- Once delivered to a table, boards should only be touched by North, (with one exception see below) and when moving between tables the boards will be delivered by North to North
- Each player withdraws, counts, sorts, plays, and returns their cards to the board keeping the cards in their ‘section’ of the table. Only dummy should touch dummy’s cards
- Players will touch only the unique side of the board containing their cards when removing or inserting their cards
- Only North will touch the travellers, showing East/West the scores entered for validation
- At the end of a set of boards please do not move to the next table until instructed to do so by the TD
4.2 Bidding Boxes
• These will be placed on tables as normal by the TD or his/her assistant prior to play
- It is not viable for us to offer sanitised bidding boxes or the bidding cards inside them however as they are only used once every 7 days they will be ‘safe’ at the start of play
- East/West players should take their bidding boxes with them when they move tables during the course of the evening
- If players prefer not to use the club bidding boxes, they should please bring (and take home) their own bidding box
- End of Play
- At the end of play for the evening North/South pair will shuffle and deal the cards before returning them to the boards. In this way the boards and cards will be ‘safe’ at the beginning of the next session in 1 weeks’ time
- Return cards to the board. Remove the completed travellers and replace them with new blank travellers having filled in the board number only. Leave the completed travellers together with the club bidding boxes and boards on the table. The TD or his/her assistant will collect all these items once you have left the hall
- Only the TD or his/her assistant should collect boards travellers and club bidding boxes at the end of the evenings play
- Only North should handle the boards and travellers at each table
- At the end of the evenings play please do not leave your table until instructed to do so by the TD
- MISCELLANEOUS
5.1 Coats
- North/South players should keep their coats at their table. East/West players should use either the coat stands or stage area for their coats. Please be mindful of possible congestion and do not congregate at the stage area when depositing your belongings. Always maintain social distancing
5.2 Use of toilets
- A new toilet block is presently under construction. Toilets currently available are those off the corridor leading past the kitchen
- Only one person will be allowed in the Ladies’ or the Men’s’ toilets at a time
- Doors to lavatories must be left open after use for others to see in
- Hands must be washed and sanitised after using toilets
5.3 Bring your own drinks
- The kitchen will be closed until further notice
- Players are invited to bring their own drinks or snacks, taking their containers and rubbish home
5.4 Ventilation
- The windows in the ceiling of the hall will be open during bridge evenings to improve ventilation. Weather permitting external doors will also be kept open to ensure a good air flow
- Due to increased air circulation, heating settings may be increased slightly
