2023 AGM Minutes

OXSHOTT BRIDGE CLUB

MINUTES OF THE ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING HELD AT THE
OXSHOTT VILLAGE CENTRE ON WEDNESDAY 25TH OCTOBER 2023
Present: Daphne Pugh (Chairman ) plus 36 Members (Appendix A)
The Chairman welcomed Members to the meeting.

1. Apologies for Absence:
There were 8 apologies.

2. Committee Report
This had been published on line. There were no questions and the Report was accepted.
The Chairman thanked the Committee for all their hard work throughout the year.

3. Hon Treasure’s Report and Adoption of Accounts (Appendix C:)
The Treasurer presented his Report which was also on line.
The Treasurer advised that with a £977 surplus for the year. The future of the Club was
Secure with just over £7,000 in the Bank although it was likely that the Hall rental would
Increase to cover heating costs.

Subs and tables monies would remain the same for the current year
The Chairman advised that some of the surplus might need to be used to service the Bridge
Mates and Dealing Machine and hoped that tables numbers would increase to 9 or 10.
The Treasurer thanked Don Porter for Auditing the Accounts.

4. Election of Officers and Committee
The Chairman advised that she and Philip Duncan would be retiring from the Committee.
Graham Cunningham had agreed to become Chairman, he was proposed by Liz Dunjay
and seconded by Don Porter and unanimously elected.

Adrian Ridgwick had agreed to join the Committee, he was proposed by Graham
Cunningham and seconded by Rosie Branch.

With a view to the possibility of needing new Committee Members next year the Chairman
advised that this was not an arduous duty, there were three Committee Meetings a year.

5. Election of Hon. Auditor
Don Porter had agreed to stand again. He was proposed by Janet Kefford and seconded by
Margaret Monaghan and unanimously elected.

6. Announcement of Competition Winners

Club Teams: Renate Lane & Penny Webster-Smith, Chris Mason & Jonathan Hubbard
Runners up: Mike Mulligan & Deanne Goddard, David Rotherham & Sue Osborne

Tilling Trophy: Clifford Lambe and Graham Cunningham
Runners up: Gabrielle Roberts and Giovanni Homewood

Individual: Gabrielle Roberts
Runner up: Giovanni Homewood

The Trophies were presented by the Club President Margaret Monaghan .
The Chairman thanked Mike Sadler for preparing the Winners Lists every year.

7. Entry in to EBU and Surrey Competitions
The Chairman advised that the Club would continue to enter the Children in Need in
November this year.

The Club would also be running Novice Session for four Mondays
Starting on 6 th November to give them a taste of duplicate sessions as played in Clubs.

The incoming Chairman advised that the Club would run a Blue Points Competition on
Sunday March 10 th . He thanked the outgoing Chairman for all her hard work.

8. Any other Business:
The Chairman advised that tea and coffee will be re-introduced and requested that
Everyone washed up their own cups.
There being no other business the meeting closed at 7.30 pm.
