What We've Been Doing
What We've Been Doing

Hello Owen Sound Duplicate Bridge Club members,

Message from the President :

Due to COVID-19, things have changed immensely.
The O.S.D.B.C board of directors had a meeting at the home of Marcia Syer-Poyntz in the summer outside.
At that time the board of directors was trying to get some ideas for the direction of our club.
Two of our member have stepped down  ( Mike Curley  and  Martin Heessels )
and we welcomed 2 new board members: Pat Barker our new vice-president, and Marcia Syer-Poyntz
First of all, I would like to thank Mike Curley, our past vice-president,
for his input at our meetings and running the meeting when I was unable to attend.
I would also like to thank Mike for his ideas at Christmas time that made the evening a more enjoyable party.
Also I would like to thank Martin Heessels for his input at our meetings;
helping with set-up at the club and Martin was always willing to help with moving of tables and chairs for our parties.
Thanks again to both of you.

Due to COVID-19 situation we are doing any of the board's changes by phone and/or e-mail.
On November 11,2020 the O.S.D.B.C. donated $300.00 to each of the following:
Lifestyle Seniors Centre, The Owen Sound Canadian Legion “poppy fund “, and The Salvation Army.
I personally delivered every check and they all were very appreciative.
Our financial situation has improved because of the Virtual Clubs.
( playing bridge online at virtual clubs ) mostly because our fixed costs have been lowered.
The O.S.D.B.C. is a non-profit organization and we will be dealing with this in the very near future.
Virtual Clubs online bridge is a form of playing A.C.B.L bridge on line
and 2 of our board members are willing to help our members play online.
They are Lee Gallacher  ( 519-376-6852 )  and Wayne Tabbert.  ( 519-371-6579 ).
 From, Gord Close
Be well, stay safe, and play bridge!
Merry Christmas to everyone and your families.
Marcia
