National Inter-County Finals - Oxfordshire C finishes 2nd behind Herts
As Markham Trophy winners for 2015-16, Oxfordshire's C-team qualified to represent the Midlands in the end-of-season National Inter-County League Finals in Coventry on Sunday 10 July. The team finished 2nd out of 5, a score of 48 VPs not being enough to overhaul Herts. Thanks are due to John Slater for supplying the match report to be found here. Sunday 3 April 2016 - Away v Worcestershire
The final match of the 2015-16 season saw the County C-team claim the Markham Trophy with a handsome 18-2 victory over their closest rivals Worcestershire. They finished 22 VPS clear of the rest of the division and will represent the Midlands in the National Finals this summer. The A-team lost 6-14 to slip to a disappointing 6th in the Dawes League title and the B-team were nudged all the way down to 4th by a 7-13 defeat. John Williams's match report appears here. . Sunday 21 February 2016 - Home v Gloucestershire: Match result
Oxfordshire's A-team beat Gloucestershire A 12-8. But our B-team lost 3-17 to surrender the lead in the Porter League standings with one match to go. Sunday 24 January 2016 - Away v Warwickshire: Match result
Warwickshire's A-team beat Oxfordshire A 16-4, to move closer to regaining the Dawes League title from us. But our B-team won 16-4 and lead the Porter League standings with two matches to go. Our C-team lost 11-9 but retain a healthy lead in the Markham league table. The latest tables can be seen here.
Results: 2015-16 Season (Dawes Midland League)
In the last match of 2015 (6 Dec) against Staffs & Shrops (H), the A-team won 11-9 while the B and C teams both won 20-0. A report from Robert Procter appears here and here.
In the first match of the 2015-16 Midlands League season against Derbyshire, Oxfordshire's A-team and C-team both won 18-2 while the B-team was held to a 10-10 draw. The match report by John Williams appears here.
In the second match against Leicestershire, the A-team lost 6-14 while the B-team won 14-6 and the C-team won 15-5. A match report by Chris Wilson appears here and part 2 here.
In the match on 1st November, away to Nottinghamshire, the A-team endured a 0-20 thrashing, severely limiting its chances of retaining the Dawes League title. The B-team lost 8-12, with similar, if less severe consequences. Two pairs failed to complete the long trip, so the C-team played a teams-of-4 match, winning by 79 IMPs.
