Oxfordshire OBA had a most successful outing today against Leicestershire in the season’s first match of the Midlands Counties on-line League. A big thank you to all those playing. The results were as follows:

    A Team won 17-3     B Team won 16-4     C Team won 20-0      9-High won 11-9

Results will be posted on the OBA website.

Midland Counties League 2026-27: 1 | 2 | 3 | 9-High

A special mention goes to Alex and Joseph Conlon who were playing in the competition for the first time in the C Team and topped the x-imps.  The C Team showed the way with a terrific first result.

More important than the result is the positive spirit in which the game was played - the selectors hope all enjoyed the bridge. There is no match in October and so the next MCOL match will be in November

The selectors picked these teams for the match against Leicestershire for September:

EBED have agreed to run a course for new bridge teachers this October at OBC- a half day online on Sunday 4th Oct and an all day in-person on Sun 11th October.   The in-person session will be held at Oxford Bridge Club.  Please click here for more info.  For clubs in need, grants may be available.

To play in Oxfordshire events (regular monthly events i.e.  Senior Pairs, BBO Pairs Ladder or Thursday Teams) or the occasional Sunday events e.g. Harwell Cup, Handicap Pairs or Mixed Pairs) all players must either be Primary Oxfordshire members or Secondary (sometime referred to as Associate) Oxfordshire Members. The committee discussed and decided this recently. 

Oxfordshire welcomes players from other counties and at no cost, we ask you to register for Secondary Membership.

[Note the County Pairs and Presidents Cup are only open to Primary OBA Members. All Blue Pointed and the Congress are open to all so no secondary membership is required for these events]

Swiss Pairs Championship - 6th December 2026    (BLUE POINTED)

It's time to enter this very popular competition. This year's Swiss Pairs competition will be held online (RealBridge) on Sunday 6th December 2026. Please be online by 1.45 for a prompt start at 2.00pm.There will be six 6-board matches. Session 1: 2.00pm - 4.15pm, 18 boards, Session 2: 4.45pm - 7.00pm, 18 boards.   Entry Fee: £18 per pair.

PRIZES: to top 10% of pairs playing, using 20% of entry fees.

NOTE:   This event requires a full number of tables, so the last pair that enters may not be able to play if there is a half table....
