  Ian Hazelhurst Memorial Trophy Result
Ian Hazelhurst Memorial Trophy Result

This year Oakfield defeated Huddersfield to regain the Ian Hazelhurst Memorial Trophy played at Oakfield on 16 September.

Sixteen players from each team took part playing three 8 board matches and the result was achieved through aggregate scoring.

Thanks to our Oakfield team who also laid on quite a spread of cakes and including a glass of wine.

Ian would have loved the evening as Teams was his favourite form of the game. It was once again good to see so many players from both clubs enjoying this event.

Thanks to Bob and John from Oakfield for arranging and running the event and to Gillian Emerson who organised for Huddersfield.

  Freebies!!

As we all know there is free table entrance to winners. If there is a north/south and an east/west the winners of both receive a free pass to their next game. When there is a single list, the winners and runner up get a free pass to their next game.

In addition,we give awards for handicap winners.  They also receive a free pass to their next game.

Also, a reminder. Hosts receive a free pass to their next game whether or not they play. For the first time that I can remember last Wednesday a member was left without a game as there was no host. Please try and be a host just once or twice a year to help the club and your fellow members.

  This year's charity - Emmaus
This year's charity - Emmaus

This year’s club nominated charity was Emmaus local charity who carry out excellent work with the homeless community. This includes finding them useful work to do such that they achieve some independence to help them towards a brighter future. The picture shows Shirley presenting the cheque for £375 to Alison from Emmaus.

We would like to hear from members about worthy local charities that could be considered for future years.
