COMMITTEE MEETING

Wednesday 15 June 2022 at 5 pm via Zoom

PRESENT: Mark Goddard (Chair), Shirley Ashtari, C Frost, M Shepherd, K Spencer, J Staniforth and

R Stock.

  1. APOLOGIES -  All elected members were present

  1. CO-OPTION OF ADDITIONAL MEMBERS

A name had been put forward and an invitation extended to attend the meeting as an observer but regrettably no attendance had taken place.

  1. MINUTES OF LAST MEETING HELD ON 16 MARCH 2022 AND DRAFT MINUTES OF THE AGM

The committee minutes were agreed as a correct record. The AGM draft minutes were proposed for approval at the next AGM subject to the inclusion of a list of members in attendance.

  1. MATTERS ARISING FROM THE MINUTES – There were no separate matters arising

  1. APPOINTMENT OF OFFICERS

Following discussion Mark agreed to continue as Chair on the basis that a number of the responsibilities previously undertaken by the Chair would be allocated to other officers and that future consideration would be given to a role of Vice-Chair.

Ian Dovey had stood down as Treasurer and would no longer be a bank signatory. It was agreed that Roger Stock would be the new Treasurer and Julia Staniforth was willing to undertake the role of Secretary. The role of the County Captain would be shared between Mark and Shirley with a possible third member to form a Selection Committee with Mark as Chair.

Julia and/or Shirley would seek to attend the Midlands County Working Group to report back information.

Keith Spencer had been elected as Tournament Director at the AGM.

  1. CHAIR’S REPORT

The Chair reported that the Independent Examiner had approved the latest year’s accounts.

Priorities for the new committee were agreed as:

  • Forging better links with affiliated clubs
  • Formalising a programme of events including using different venues and some with free entry.
  • Teaching programmes – promotional material had been received from the EBU for display

  1. 2022/23 LEAGUES OF EIGHT MATCHES

Jane Hall was willing to continue to organise the arrangements for the league which was appreciated.

In view of comments raised at the AGM regarding whether the leagues would return to face to face it was agreed to write to clubs (with a copy sent to club captains) asking if they could give an indication by 1 July 2022 of the number of teams that were likely to be entered playing either face to face or online. If online the likely default platform would be BBO.

  1. DATE OF NEXT MEETING – 13 July 2022 at 5.00 pm ( Main item to arrange a competition calendar)
