DISRUPTION TO PROGRAMME |
 |
Use discretion with snow or ice, when it's enough to ruin parking.
VIRUS LATEST .. EARLIER THAN ANTICIPATED CLOSURE, Monday 16th March
With more sadness than is warranted in a grown man, and following the example of the major Clubs, who have already closed
ALL OUR CLUB SESSIONS ARE LIKEWISE NOW SUSPENDED until further notice
Two weeks shy of the 30th anniversary of "full time bridge", I want to thank everyone for their support in all that time, let alone all the help since 2017's drama.
We now have a long haul through these strange and anxious times, so it's a case of "good luck, to one and all !! " xx
UPDATE 1st APRIL >> I have had so many messages, thank you. Sorry not to have answered many. Week 1 was upsetting, and now we have a skip, keeping quite busy. Everyone is coping, so far .. PLEASE SEE REFERENCE on this page to ONLINE PLAY ..

Origins and Policy ..... ! |

The North Cotswolds Bridge Club started in 1985, primarily to provide local learning and practice sessions - but always aspiring to keep a friendly, relaxed and sociable environment. Until his health drama of 2017, the host/teacher/proprietor (Alan Lamb) still felt relatively active, despite those dates (half my entire life!). The Club went 'full-time' in 1990, most sessions with an 'open' policy (no need to book in advance). 'Mixed ability' is a key description, and improvers are encouraged to any session that they can 'keep up' with, enjoy, benefit from, and feel comfortable at. More experienced players are welcome, provided that they themselves welcome - and encourage - improvers ! Please note that, after prolonged difficulties with the new EBU universal membership scheme, this Club disaffiliated in 2013. This does not affect the duplicate games at all, there's just no master points awarded for them ! 2018 was my year for convalesence and therapy, with just five regular Club sessions weekly (Tuesdays-Fridays), no more evenings, and considerable help from members, plenty for my stamina level. 2019 saw more recovery and continued help, thank you. We start 2020 with the same five sessions, but please watch for any alterations ..

Beginners .. |
Any course for absolute beginners might - or might not - be possible upon the host's extended (second year's) recovery. Enquire to Alan, please.
Novices tend to do well at the coached morning sessions (currently on Wednesdays and Thursdays)
