Training Courses at Newbury Bridge Club
Beginners' Course 2013-14
Bridge is an absorbing and fascinating hobby, good for the brain and a great way of making new friends. This is a course is for beginners or those who wish to improve their game The course will follow the syllabus of the English Bridge Union’s “Bridge for All” programme. The full course which will be at least 30 lessons over three terms. No partner or experience required. The first term of 11 sessions began on Friday 27th September but there are still places available and you could easily catch up.
Dates and Times: Friday evenings, 27th September – 13th December inclusive ( with a half-term break) The lessons will run from 7:15 to 9:30pm, with a short break for refreshments.
Course Tutor: Chris Doyle, assisted by Brian Medhurst and Martin Osgood, all EBU qualified/accredited teachers.
Venue: Newbury Bridge Club, which is in central Newbury. Free parking and licensed bar on the premises. Coffee, tea and soft drinks also available. (Click on information for details of our location)
Course Description: Learn to play Bridge, the best card game in the world, using a “hands-on” syllabus, while having fun and making new friends.
Student requirements: Pen and paper only. Payment of the course fee will entitle the student to receive a copy of the EBU “BeginningBridge”, Book 1, and one year’s membership of the English Bridge Union. Students will be encouraged to spend about an hour a week studying and answering quizzes and will be encouraged to play bridge with other students in their homes between lessons.
Course Fees: £75 for the first term, £60 for each of the next two terms. The course fee includes the Workbook and EBU membership as described above (normal cost is £20). The workbook will see you through a full year of lessons.
