Convention Cards

A reminder from the  directors: If you are playing anything but very basic ACOL you and your partner both require the same printed convention card available for perusal by your opponents. The easiest way to achieve this is to download a card from the EBU by clicking  HERE  You can then modify it to your own system. If you are unable to download one for any reason there are also now some blank convention cards in the cupboard in the playing room.

If you can't open this, you will need to download and install an Acrobat Reader which is available free of charge by clicking HERE

R.I.P. Matthew Stratton

We have just learned the sad news that Matthew Stratton a founder member of Newbury Bridge Club died in Hull on 13th April at the age of 98. Many of us will remember Matthew with affection and admiration. He played both duplicate and rubber bridge at the club for such a long time. He was chairman of the club from 1973 to 1976 and from 1983 to 1985 and president from 2009 to 2015. He was a real stalwart of the club and our commiserations go out to his family and friends. His family are planning to arrange a memorial service but as yet we have no details.

R.I.P. Philip Read

We have also just learned that Philip Read a popular rubber bridge player both face to face and online died on 15th April after a short illness. Our commiserations go out to his family and friends.

EBU National Pairs 2024

Congratulations to Evelyne Thomas and Garry Towns who came 7th in the EBU National Pairs Final on 14th April 2024. That's 7th in the country in a very strong field which is an exceptionally good result. Well done to them!
