What should I do if I cannot use internet banking to top up?
Option 1 Ask a friend to make the payment on your behalf and you pay them the cash. Make sure they know your bridge number and put it in the reference.
Option 2 Pay cash by placing your money in an envelope with your Name, Bridge Number and Amount written on the outside and give to the director, treasurer or office manager. No coins please. Please try to make CASH payments of at least $50 to avoid unnecessary transaction processing.
One of the major objectives of this system is to reduce cash handling, cash is the least desirable option from the club’s point of view. Coins are not acceptable due to banking issues.
Please try to make CASH payments of at least $50, to avoid unnecessary transaction processing.
How do I know when my account needs a TOP UP?
We suggest you keep a track of your balance and how many times you play.
If you play regularly - for example, twice week, set up an automatic payment of $32 a fortnight to your compass account to cover the table session costs.
Anytime, a members compass balance drops below $16.00 (two sessions play) you will be emailed a statement.
Alternately you can check your balance on line using My Compa$$$.
If I leave the club, Can I get a refund of a surplus account balance?
Yes. Simply place a request by email, including your Name, Bridge number and Bank Account number requesting a refund of your balance.
Can I get a statement of transactions on my account?
Yes. You can login to mycompass and see all your transactions and print the transactions out.
Does the club accept payments by Visa or Debit Card?
No. Only Internet Banking or cash notes are allowed.
What happens if there is no credit in my account?
The club operate a cashless table money trust account system which is based on trust, with the expectation that members will not turn up to play a session when their table money trust account has less than a $8 balance, however the system does allow for negative balances.
Anytime, a members compass balance drops below $16.00 (two sessions play) - members are emailed a Compa$$ statement so they are reminded that their account balance needs to be topped up and so they have time to top up their account if required.
It an account balance is less than $8.00, a member should not be playing a club session until their account is topped up and their balance is $8.00 or more.
If a member is playing in a tournament, their account must have a sufficient balance to cover the cost of the tournament.
For overdrawn accounts, the club reserves the right for further action to be taken as required.
How does the system deal with couples or family members?
Ideally it is best if each transaction relates to one member for clarity. However as long as bank references are clear about what is intended, combined payments are possible.
If this is an issue for you please discuss it with the treasurer. there is also an option to transfer funds between members.
Does the system cover tournament fees?
Yes but only for Nelson club members for Nelson club tournaments. Table money will be charged direct to your Compass account. People who do not have a Compass account are not members of Nelson will be treated as visitors.
What about Subscriptions?
Currently your annual subscription charge is not made to compass - the cub is reviewing this going forward.
If your membership status is going to change in the following year please advise the treasurer or club secretary by email, (Kat Byrne or Evelyn Muncaster) before 1 July.
If you change from a full member to an Affiliate, or vice versa, or you do not wish to renew your membership, then you must advise the club before 30th June to avoid being billed the wrong amount.
How long does it take for a transaction to appear on my Compa$$ account?
Top Up transactions are received into the club Compa$$ bank account. Every few days (at least twice a week, except between Christmas and new year) balances are updated onto Compa$$ member accounts, so receipts may take a few days to appear in Compa$$ but they will be correctly dated when they do appear.
Table money is usually deducted from your Compa$$ account within 2 days of play, so debits may take a few days to appear in Compa$$ but they will be correctly dated when they do appear
Subscriptions are billed once a year in July. The actual date of processing may vary but will not be before 1 July each year.
