Our regular Christmas shared lunch will take place this year, at Hepscott, on Thursday December 5th. Lunch will start at 1.30 pm and the hall will be open at 1pm.
We are restricted to a maximum of 10 tables. If you would like to join in please can you tell Peggy as she is organising numbers?
Just bring something sweet or savoury and these will be shared. We will have lunch first and our usual quiz. Then an aggregate session of bridge.
Looking ahead; the 2020 the Cheese and Wine Party will be held on Saturday 8th February at Stannington Village Hall. (2pm) Invitations will be sent out early in the new year.
About the Friendly League
Following on from our bridge classes we thought it a good idea for students to have the chance of playing ‘teams bridge’. Some would say it is the purest form of the game; it is certainly ideally suited to playing at home with friends, which is sociable and fun. The first season was 2005 when we were surprised to find we had 12 teams interested bearing in mind that many players were new to the game.
Since then it continues to be very popular. If anyone would like to enter a team this season, starting October 2017, just contact Aileen before August 30th.
How does it work?
The season generally runs from October to June, depending upon the number of teams. The maximum number of matches for each team is 7; some home and others away.
The captains contact each other to agree a suitable date and venue for their match.
At the end of the season trophies and prizes are awarded to the winning teams.
