Mentoring is useful for improving, intermediate and experienced players. The options for getting involved in the mentor program either as a mentor or mentee are explained below. Please contact mvbc.lessons@gmail.com if you have any questions about mentoring.
Regular Weekly Mentoring Groups
MVBC runs 5-6 mentor groups per week. These sessions are mostly provided online with one face to face group. Most groups are full, however the face to face group, in the clubrooms Monday at 11am, can accommodate new members who have at least graduated beyond beginners' duplicate sessions.
Some players have also come to their own arrangements with senior players and formed their own mentoring groups. That is to be encouraged. More people working together and improving the overall quality of bridge played is fantastic. All mentoring is run in small groups and led by a more experienced player. They give players the opportunity to practice their skills and work on improving their bridge game.
One on one Mentoring – Sunday Afternoon Program
There is also the opportunity for mentors to play with their mentees during the Sunday duplicate at no cost to the mentor. This is to further help the mentee develop their game and gives the mentor a chance to provide more specific and detailed assistance. The mentor must be someone who is running a mentor group managed by the club. If you are interested in participating in this Sunday arrangement, please register on the website “Looking for a partner or mentor” section. Please complete the details and the dates you are available.
Of course, if you are already part of the regular mentor program, you can approach your own mentor, make your own arrangements and just attend the Sunday session like any other pair.
