Bridge Basics 1 (BB1)

• New to card playing and/or bridge
• Short video Let's Play Bridge to find out more

• 8 weeks formal lessons (includes practice play)
• 2 weeks supervised play to reinforce concepts
• 2 ½ hrs duration including 15 min tea break

• Classes commence in February & July each year
• Daytime: Monday 10:00 am OR Evening: Wednesday 7:15pm
• Cost $120; includes textbook “Introduction to Bridge” by Paul Marston, membership of MVBC and tea, coffee & biscuits
• Topics covered include game overview (including rules & scoring), trick taking, hand evaluation, bidding, card play strategies

“Prepare to Play”

• Those recently completed BB1
• To prepare students to play in our Beginner’s Duplicate Sessions

• 4 weeks supervised play to review & consolidate Bridge Basics 1 concepts

• 2 ½ hrs duration including 15 min tea break

• Follows immediately on from Bridge Basics 1 in May & October each
• Daytime: Monday 10:00 am OR Evening: Wednesday 7:15pm
• Cost $25
• Primary focus is on playing, short review session each week, including introduction to online platform BBO

Bridge Basics 2 (BB2)

• Completed BB1 and played for 2+ months

• 5 weeks formal lessons (includes practice play)
• 2 ½ hrs duration including 15 min tea break

• Classes commence in February & July each year
• Daytime: Monday 10:00 am OR Evening: Wednesday 7:15pm
• Cost $80; includes printed course notes and tea, coffee & biscuits
• Topics covered:
  • extended bidding concepts – pre-emptive bids, opening strong hands, slam bidding, responding to opening NT bids
  • Defender card play strategies
  • Reinforcement of BB1 learnings

Bridge Basics 3 (BB3)

• Completed BB1 & BB2 and played for 12+ months or
  • Returning to the game after a long absence
  • Played but have never had formal lessons

• 5 weeks formal lessons (includes practice play)
• 2 ½ hrs duration including 15 min tea break

• Classes commence in April & September each year
• Evening: Wednesdays 7:15pm
• Cost $80; includes printed course notes and tea, coffee & biscuits
• Review, refresh and extend BB1 & BB2 learnings:
  • 2 weeks on bidding
  • 2 weeks on declarer card play
  • 1 week defender card play
