POSTED AUGUST 9TH
OPEN GAMES
(GOOD NEWS, BAD NEWS)
First the bad. Saturday’s Open Game was cancelled due to lack of participation. At this point I am at a loss to figure out how to make this game work. If anyone has any suggestions, please forward them to me. Also, if you have a reason for not playing in this game please let me know. Let’s give next Saturday, August 15th, a special effort. If you are interested in playing and cannot find a partner please contact me.
The good. We had 15 tables on the 21st. We had 16 tables on the 28th. Do I hear 17? Let’s keep adding to this game.
A gentle reminder: PLEASE play nice. For an experienced player to try to intimidate newer players is both rude and unacceptable. Please report any such incidents to the Director as soon as possible.
Hope to see a good turnout on both Tuesday and Saturday next week.

*REMINDER* - Hand Analysis & Discussion
with Martin Hunter
Martin has graciously offered to conduct a post-game analysis/discussion session following two bridge games each week, using BBO and Zoom. He’ll review the bidding, what it was and what it should have been, and even the play of the hand, using real game examples that you’ve just played.
Do not miss out on this tremendous opportunity to attend a *free* one-hour lesson with one of our very own world-class bridge players. Even if you didn’t play the game, you are welcome to attend the meeting. You are guaranteed to learn something!
The games and times are: Thursday’s 0-299 at 3:15 and Friday's 0-499 at 3:45.
Here are Martin’s detailed instructions:

Did You Know?
Have you ever had a (costly?) mis-click on BBO? Apparently, we all have. This can, of course, happen during the bidding and the play of the hand. Here’s a tip that will help to prevent this from happening.
Under the Account tab (usually on the right hand or bottom of the screen) go to ‘Settings’. Under ‘Playing’, there is a setting called ‘Confirm bids’ and another called ‘Confirm cards’ (see below). If you turn this setting on, you will have a chance to accept the bid or the play before proceeding. It only adds a second or two to the bid/play.
Confirm Bids After selecting the bid, you must click on ‘okay’ to proceed. This gives you a chance to change your bid.
Confirm Cards A single click on the selected card will allow you a chance to change your mind. The second click will play the card.

Table Count
In July, at 555, we had our highest table count since January 2020 and slightly nudged out July 2019. MOBridge continues to have the highest table count in the Unit and the District and we’re #34 for all of ACBL!
