Here’s what’s happening at MObridge for September
Friday 12:30 game increased to 0-1500 from 0-750. Beginning September 20, the Friday game will be 0-1500. We hope this will increase attendance. Price is $5.
September 24-27 Virtual games are NABC fund raising - extra points (50% more points) for extra $1
Team League sign up:
- We are looking for teams of 4-6 players to form a team league starting in three to four weeks time. You can sign up either as a team or as a pair and we will create a team for you. Details of the league are on the notice board and the web site. We need a minimum of 8 teams for this to go ahead and you can sign up on the notice board or email Max.
September 30 - Back to School Special Seminar - Brush up on Opener's Rebid
- Do you feel you need a crash course on rebids? Do you know the difference between a reverse and a jump shift? Then this two-hour seminar is for you! This seminar is intended for students with some playing and bidding experience.
When: Monday, 30 September, 12:30-2:30
Where: MObridge
Cost: $25 (cash or debit)

Food Drive - With Thanksgiving and the holiday seasons approaching, we have decided to help out the community with a food drive. A decorated box will be left in the kitchen area for any non-perishable food items you wish to donate. We will arrange to take them to the local food bank. We will be collecting from next week through the Christmas season. Thanks in advance!

- Golden Horseshoe Interclub Challenge - In 2023 Mobridge won the Golden Horseshoe Interclub Challenge and the 2024 Challenge is taking place on October 6 at the Guelph Bridge Club. The following teams will represent our club:

Taste of Bridge Seminar
We are starting a new initiative to attract people to the game of bridge and our club. MObridge is going to hold a "Taste of Bridge Seminar" on October 5 between 2-4. Further information can be found in the poster below. Please let your friends and family, that have not been bitten by the bridge bug, know about this seminar. Feel free to hand them out or add them to community bulletin boards in the area. The poster is below and copies will be available at the club.
- Wednesday October 16 (evening), Erin Berry Rookie -Master game. Sign up for Rookies (under 100 master points) has begun. Please contact Ingrid at ingridd63@yahoo.ca for more information. There is a sign up sheet on the club bulletin board for Masters wanting to play
- Supervised Play on Wednesday afternoon will be suspended from October 16 due to the Rookie-Master game and from that date to Novemeber 20 due to lessons. Supervised Play will restart on November 27 from 12:30 to 2:30.
- Tuesday October 29 (afternoon), Eight is Enough game. A light lunch will be served and cost will be $15. Gold points will be awarded
- Swiss team events are scheduled for Monday October 7 at 7 pm, Thursday October 10 at 12:30 pm and Friday October 18 at 12:30 pm. As it is Club Appreciation, gold points are being awarded for team games in October. More Information to follow.

Other News
- The club had 61.5 tables for the week of September 9-13. Our second highest table count since returning from Covid.
- After much discussion and review of what other clubs in the area do, we have decided to reduce our part year membership fee to $40 starting August 1. This reduced membership fee will be valid from August 1 to December 31, 2024.

Please be at the club at least 10 minutes before game start time. This also applies to Virtual games. The directors have to set up the game and late arrivals may effect the movement in F2F games.
DO NOT buy BBO Bucks on an app as there will be a 30% premium charged. Buy BBO Bucks directly from the BBO website.
All F2F games have the "HOST" feature. Presently, you can HOST as often as you wish. All games F2F and Virtual have the "FIND A PARTNER" feature. For either, just hover over the game in our Calendar and select the respective Icon and take it from there. Note that you must be a MObridge Member to use either of these features.

- Also take note that you can always use your purchased "Prepaid" cards to play, but if you are not a member for the current year, there is an extra $2.00 game fee, plus any additional for Special Games.

The FIND A PARTNER Program is for both F2F & Virtual Games.
Follow the Instructions under the "Find a Partner" Tab on our Home Page.

As a Member, you complete the request, and request can only be removed by you.
THE HOST PROGRAM
The HOST Program for F2F Games is Back - Guaranteed Partners
|
This program is designed to benefit our members, new players and visitors to find a partner. This is how it works:
- Any Club Member can volunteer to HOST. One may HOST as often as he or she wishes.
- You choose the game and the day that best suits your schedule.
- To sign up to be a HOST, on our website calendar you can click any game that has “Host Wanted” in the game slot.
- A window opens and you will need to sign in as a member.
- Once you sign in your name will appear on the calendar as the HOST for that game.
- On your designated day you will arrive 15-20 minutes prior to game time and be prepared to partner anyone who shows up without a partner.
- Each "two singles" that show up will be paired up to play together, and if we have only even #s show, they are paired and the HOST goes home.
- If the HOST is required to play, then they play for free, and if they are not needed they receive a Free Play to be used at another time.
NOTE that this program is for F2F Games only.
If your plans change and you cannot HOST, please let the Club know so that your name can be removed and another has the opportunity to HOST.
Only the Web Administrator can remove the HOST.

This is not a seminar! You and 3 other players will play and defend as many hands as you can in 2 hours. Each hand will illustrate a defensive tip such as:
