Use of backdoor from the parking lot

Hello everyone,

Unfortunately we have had a fall at the backdoor this week.  The backdoor is not the easiest way to enter the club.  The door is heavy, and does not prop open plus there is a step up and then an incline into the club.  There is also a lot of traffic at the door (people inside and outside the door).

We are asking you to do the following when coming to the club:

  • If you use a walker or are unsteady on your feet, please use the mall entrance.  You need to go through the mall doors and around to the door of the club. All on the lower level.
  • Please do not rush even if it snowing, raining, cold or you are late.  The back entrance is tricky.
  • Please once inside move out of the door.area.
  • Please help anyone who is having problems.

Thank you for your assistance. We don't want any falls!

Catherine

Come in from  the cold and play bridge

Sunday Game: January 18 at 1 pm

Come in from  the cold and play bridge.

We are going to try a new format called an Individual game. Description is below.
This is a fun game for all levels.  Come out and meet new people.  Bailey's will be provided for the coffee to add to the warmth.

An Individual game  is a game format where players change partners for every round and are ranked on their personal performance, rather than as a permanent partnership.

Key Characteristics:

Rotating Partners:  The core feature of an individual game is that each player competes with a different partner in each round, based on a predetermined movement schedule.

Single Winner: Unlike the more common pair games (which often have separate North-South and East-West winners),

an Individual event produces a single overall winner - similar to a Howell Movement

Junior Fund Rating - extra MPs   Regular game fees apply for Members.
Sign up sheet will be on the bulletin board.

Saturday morning volunteers

Our Saturday morning 0-50 supervised game is growing.  (Supervised games allow the players to ask question about the bidding etc.) Due to this increase,  the director is very busy with 2 games and the 0-50 asking questions.   We are going to add a volunteer to answer basic questions from the group.  This will help the players learn and keep the game going.  You do not have to be a director to do this.  You need to be an intermediate or higher.   Directors calls will still be done by the game director.  A calendar will be put up on the volunteer board for you to sign up.  Please help out on this cause.  It not only helps the novices but also the club.
