ANNOUNCING & ALERTING

Below is a synopsis of the ones mostly used at our club (there is a detailed list from the EBU on the mainnoticeboard).

ANNOUNCE:-

1.The points range of 1NT openings (not now required for 2NT.)

2, Stayman and red suit transfers following 1NT & 1NT overcalls & 2NT openings (i.e. diamonds to hearts & hearts to spades.

3. Opening twos: -

2♦️. Weak with diamonds or Strong with diamonds (game forcing)

2♥️,2♠️ Weak with 6 or more or Strong with hearts/spades.

ALERT

2♣️/2♦️ (if not natural). When asked, partner explains meaning either “strong forcing to game unless rebids 2NT (showing either strong balanced or 8 playing tricks in a suit)

All other artificial suit bids below 3NT: -

e.g. Landy, fourth suit forcing, Jacoby, extended stayman, trial, cue & splinter bids etc.

NOTE: It is not necessary to explain the meaning of artificial bids unless you are asked to do so.
