With the numbers we had on the green today we had to play Triples and Pairs. As luck would have it almost everyone played in both disciplines. Once again we played three rounds of four ends. We decided to use rink 2 on the final triples match. This turned out to be a terrific game with everyone playing well. Our winners of the day and pictured are Ruth Carey and Arthur Gray.

A slight chill in the breeze this morning but it was still a nice day to bowl. We played triples in round robins but scored 4,3,2,1. This way of scoring always makes players think....... Our winners of the day are Margaret Cowe and George Watson, both managed an impressive score. So well deserved.

Started the morning with Ladies vs Gents. After two sets and a slight mix around, meaning Malcolm became Marilyn it ended up one set each and by chance the scores were level. So we decided to take a photo of our intrepid players without Marilyn.... From left to right, Margaret Cowe, Ruth Carey, Arthur Gray, Christine and Martin Edwards and Pat Dean who joined for the photo.

This morning we played Sunday round robin pairs. The scoring was quite dramatic with large swings after each round. Our eventual winner Ruth Carey (pictured second left) was 6 shots behind the lead player before the last four end game. She scored 8 shots in those four ends to pip our three runners up (Val Turner, Brenda Mueller and Christine Edwards) by one shot.

Slightly different format today, playing 3,2,1, triples where every player plays in each playing position. We had "The Dragons" Vs "The All Stars" . The All Stars got off to a great start winning the first set 7-0. The second set saw a complete turnaround with The Dragons winning 8-1. So it all came down to the final set. The Dragons looked comfortable going into the last end but Ann put a good shot in and Skip Ruth bowled two brilliant bowls to put the pressure on. Brenda (The Dragons Skip) managed to get a nice bowl in the head to stop The All Stars getting the 4 shots required for a draw. So the triumphant Dragons are Brenda Mueller, Arthur Gray and Val Turner.

After totalling the shots up our two winners are Val Turner and Arthur Gray. Arthur and Val are pictured together. Also on the right of the photo is Pat Dean who most of us know. She managed a few ends by herself (with a little help from us) and hopefully enjoyed it.

We made use of the short mats today. It was nice to see a couple of new people giving Bowls a go. Some found it difficult to compensate to the speed of the carpet but were improving as the morning progressed. We played triples and our winners were Judith and Tom Walters.

Rain stopped play today, however we rounded up the troops and with the help of Gayle and Colin a morning's bridge was played.
Thanks Gayle and Colin. Also thanks to Louisa who was very helpful when we asked for the Short Mats to be put out so we can play indoors if needed in the next few days. Of course we are hoping to be outside in the sun ☀️ but who knows.
