The next bridge session is on 5 November and will start at 1:00 pm in the Hans Ebeling Room.

Vale Nell Eddy who passed away 28 October 2026, a few months after her 96th birthday.

Nell’s long association with bridge started in 1991. Nell and and her husband Alan had moved to Mt Martha after they both retired - Nell as a nurse and Alan was a Forestry scientist.

Nell learnt bridge with her sister at the Mt Martha Community Centre and played socially with friends every Monday afternoon for many years.  Nell started to play weekly at Mt Martha, Mt Eliza and Mornington and after a few years decided to enter more difficult competitions. She entered competitions much further afield and played with her good friend from Albury.

Nell had great memories of bridge holidays at Norfolk Island, The Cook Islands, Lord Howe Island and Tangalooma.

Nell considered herself to have been privileged to have competed in these big tournaments.

Together with friends she played in the Gold Coast Congress 10 times as well as Canberra Summer Festival and twice at VCC in Melbourne.

After moving to Melbourne, she played at many clubs -  however the MCC was her home club, and Melbourne Football Club her team.

Nell had a very enjoyable life. She had a wonderful 60-year marriage and 2 fantastic caring children as well as wonderful grandchildren and adoring great grandchildren.

Bridge had been an enduring presence in Nell's life, and she felt it had been good for her mentally and she greatly cherished the wonderful friends she made along the way.

Nell will be greatly missed by all her knew her.

In recent years Nell lived in retirement at St Vincent’s Care in Kew, and this year won their Footy Tipping Competition! (as shown in the attached photo)
