Gary Diamond & Russell Tenzer win 2022 Rubber Bridge Competition

Russell Tenzer & Gary Diamond are the 2022 MCC Rubber Bridge champions after a dramatic last board win against Michael Bailey and David Mannooch. With just 29 points between them, Gary and Russell bid and made 6NT to win the match by 600 points to clinch the Brian Silverstone Trophy. The plate competition was won by Pamela Reiss and Dominic Flint, who beat Pat and Martin Brand in the final. Click here to see all the results in both events.

Barrie Gilbert and Steve Foster 2021 "Rubber" Bridge Champions

Barrie Gilbert and Steve Foster have won the online 2021 "Rubber" Bridge competition and will be the first holders of the Brian Silverstone Trophy.

Barrie and Steve beat Pralab Barua and Geoff Lane, the 2019 rubber bridge champions, by 5580-3170 in the final. The losing semi-finalists were Tina Cole and Michael Stern, last year's runners-up, and Steve Bispham and David Cock.

Thanks to all who participated. Full results of the competition are available here.

Jeff Lewis & Simon Alterman win 2020 "Rubber" Bridge Final

Jeff Lewis & Simon Alterman have beaten Michael Stern & Tina Cole in the final of the MCC online "Rubber" Bridge Competition. Bridge Base Online delivered a very one-sided set of 24 boards for the event, allowing Jeff and Simon to win by 3940 points. The finalists had already met once in the competition as they were both in the Stokes league during the pool stage. That was a much more competitive match, with the eventual champions squeezing home by just 400 points.

Many thanks to all 24 pairs who participated in the tournament and to Mike Alsford for setting it up. We plan to have another version of the event in the first half of 2021 with even more participants. After all, if the Chairman can win, clearly anyone can.
