Marple Duplicate Bridge Club
Appeals Against the Decision of the Director on Matters Concerning
Bidding and Play
The Committee takes the view that it is not helpful to incorporate a detailed appeals process
in the Club Constitution. We run the Club in a friendly and informal manner and do not want
to encourage members to think that they can formally appeal against decisions of the
Director.
However, it is recognised that there are rare occasions when a player may express some
dissatisfaction or disagreement with a ruling made by the Director either at the table or after
play has finished. Directors are encouraged to be sensitive to this and to offer, if they think it
might help, to consult with one or more of the other Club Directors either on the night or,
more likely, on the following day.
Having consulted, the Director will make a final decision and advise the players involved of
the outcome.
Note: The arrangements above do not apply to matters of slow play or general behaviour at
the table where the Director’s decision on the night is final.
