Hi all,

 

The Castle Golf Club has been booked for our Christmas Party on Friday the 5th December 2025. 

The cost is €45.00, and the preferred method of payment is by bank transfer to the Marley Bridge Club account. IBAN is IE47BOFI90109526203009   BIC is BOFIIE2D.  Please ensure that you identify yourself when making the payment.

Payment must be made by Wednesday the 26th of November as the Golf Club has asked us to confirm numbers 10 days in advance of the party.

Once we confirm numbers with them they will charge for that number so if nearer the time you need to cancel, unfortunately there will be no refund.

If you have any dietary requirements please let me know.

Introduction to Teams

Teams in Bridge is recognised as the “purest” form of the game.  It is also a commonly held view among those who play “Teams” regularly that it is the form of Bridge that gives most fun and enjoyment.

 

BBO has an easy to use facility for playing team matches.

 

A team match in Bridge consists of four players playing a set of boards against another four players.  The match is divided into two halves with Pair A from Team 1 playing Pair A from Team 2 in the first half, with Pair B from Team 1 playing Pair B from Team 2.  In the second half the Team 2 pairs switch orientation.

 

In the first half both tables play Boards 1-8, then the pairs in the “Away Team” switch orientation and Boards 9-16 are played.

 

The result is decided on the total number of IMPS gained or lost by each pair during the match. 

 

Don’t worry about the scoring, BBO works it out and shows the current score as you go along.

 

Matches will be scheduled by agreement between both team captains, with each fixture scheduled to be completed by midnight on a Sunday.  Whether this is weekly or fortnightly will depend on the number of teams entered.

 

In our league one team will be designated the “Home Team” for each fixture.  The Captain of the “Home Team” will set up the match at the agreed time, once all eight players are logged in.

 

Our league will comprise a series of round robin matches with each team playing every other team.  When the Round Robin is complete the top four will play a knockout semi-final and final to decide the winner.

 

Entry to the league is FREE, there will be no prizes apart from bragging rights.
