THE FINAL

After several anxious weeks of possibly playing the Final in Poland or Shenton or at our normal venue, we finally got the match played in Bosworth!

Our congratulations go to Gosia & John Wain, pictured here receiving the newly polished trophy from a relieved Graham. 

Now onto the 2025/26 competition.

You will remember we had a straw poll at one of our normal sessions to see whether members were happy with the existing system or to change the format. Some moaners were bitterly resenting that they had no points all night long so couldn't possibly win and a fairer system of points distribution was needed. Well, in the poll, a vast majority were happy with the present system because it allowed the underdogs a chance against the more seasoned players. So we keep the system that the trophy was intended for by Nola Dobson.  

I am sure Gosia and John will look after their prize and return it next year, still in a shining state!

The new draw will be made in Late September and let's hope that we can field a greater number of partnerships.

This is early notice of a Swiss Teams event to be held at Bagworth Community Centre on Saturday 12th July. In Swiss Teams, if you win your round you are matched against a pair who also won. If you came second, you will play against a pair who also came second. This continues for each round, so you will play pairs of a similar standard to yourself. It's great fun!

In conjunction with Bagworth Whistlestop Bridge Club, we run an online game on Realbridge on Monday evenings at 7pm.

Learn to play Contract Bridge or improve your skills in a warm, friendly environment. Stretch your mind whilst enjoying good company.

The next session of 'Bridge for Beginners' tuition and 'Improving your Play' coaching starts at 2:15pm on Thursday 25th September 2025 in Market Bosworth Community Library (MBCL).

♥ 12 lessons of 2 hours each for 'Beginners' over 12 weeks based on the English Bridge Union "Learn to play bridge in 24 hours".

♠ Tuition and coaching for 'Improvers' provided by EBU trained players.

♦ Price is £48 (£4 per session). All monies raised will be used to support your local community library (MBCL Charity No 1165437).

Following the trial of the Hosting programme, we have revised the way it will be implemented.

Hosting is intended to:

1. Encourage individual players from our Thursday group to come along and experience Wednesday Club night.
2. Provide a partner for Visitors.
3. To attract lapsed players who are without a partner to play again.

Regular players without a partner on any given week, should initially look for a partner using the Partner Request system, which can be found on our website. If no temporary partner is available, then the Host system may be used.

Any member without a regular partner should inform a member of the committee. We will try to then match you up with other members in a similar situation.
