Manchester League 2024/25 |
After votes at the AGM and the subsequent MCBA Executive meeting, it has been decided that the League will revert to the pre-COVID situation having a Face-to-Face playing default rather than having an Online playing default.
This means that matches should be played Face-to-Face (whether at a local club or a player's home within the area of Manchester and its environs) unless BOTH teams prefer to play online (which is perfectly acceptable if BOTH teams so wish).
The change has been made because the Manchester League will be the only local competition in which new players in particular can gain experience of playing Face-to-Face teams matches and develop their abilities in a League setting.
For those who prefer or have to play Online bridge, we hope that you will be able to switch back to Face-to-Face and continue in this League, but if you cannot then we'll be sad to lose you, but there are several other online Leagues available.
If you find that part of your team would like to continue or if you need some extra players for your Face-to-Face matches, then let the League Secretary know.
We hope and expect to recruit a number of newcomer teams from various MCBA clubs into the lower Divisions of the League where the matches will be 20 boards long.
