League and Cup Entries

If you are entering the same team into the League and the Higson Cup, you can do so using checkboxes on the Manchester League entry form. You don't need to do a Higson Cup form as well. The entry fee is a simple £50 per team.

Manchester League - Matches are played Face-to-Face (unless both teams agree to play online). Each match consist of 24 boards (or 20 boards in less experienced divisions) played in two sessions. Last year we had 4 Divisions of 9 teams. It runs from October-May. Registration by mid-October for 2024-25  HERE

Higson Cup & Plate - This is a handicapped event with every team playing at least two 24-board qualification matches. These are by default Face-to-Face (unless both teams agree to play online). At least half of the entered teams will reach Face-to-Face multi team Cup and Plate finals held on a Sunday next April at a MCBA club (probably April 27th 2025 in Altrincham). Registration by mid-October for 2024-25 HERE

Goldstone Trophy - This is the County's major knockout event and is therefore Green Pointed. Early rounds are 24 boards then later rounds are 32 boards. Matches up to the final are online unless both captains agree to play F2F. The final will be Face to Face at a MCBA club with spectators encouraged.  Members with primary allegiance to a different county cannot enter this event, but should be able to play in the equivalent event of that other county.  Registration by SEPTEMBER 2ND for 2024-25 HERE

Face to Face Summer League - A League to be played between May-September 2025 with ALL matches being Face to Face. Expressions of Interest are welcome, but further details such as entry fees are to be confirmed later. 

Manchester Bridge Congress - MCBA’s flagship 2 day weekend event in January 2025. You will find information about the event and how to register by following the link.

Entry Fees have been simplified:

• £50 per team for the League (including free entry to Higson Cup if desired)
• £20 per team that plays in the Higson Cup, but not the League.
• The Goldstone Trophy is completely free
