MCBA - COUNTY NEWSLETTER JUNE 2021

Summer Break - And a Thanks

When we first started our online sessions back in March 2020 they were free to enter and the County Executive realised that this might be an opportunity to have a charity event once a month to support local organisations in the time of crisis. So, in the early dark times of lockdown starting in April, we held a charity event on the last Wednesday of the month.

The response from all of you, together with contributions from the County treasury, has been quite simply, fantastic, and I thank you all for your generosity.  Each of the recipients has been so touched to receive our generous donations and written lovely letters in appreciation.  My thanks also to the brilliant directors who not only donate and play, but also do not charge to run the events.

The total raised in the 14 months is £11,550 and the recipients have been:

St. Ann's Hospice, Francis House, Centrepoint Manchester, The Seashell Trust, Nicky Alliance Day Centre, The Compassionate Friends, Manchester Mind, Mustard Tree, The Neuromuscular Society, Prevent Breast Cancer at Wythenshawe Hospital, Prostate Cancer at the Christie, Motor Neurone Disease Association and Moodswings.

With the easing of lockdown and the prospect of summer ahead of us, we are all taking a break.  If possible in the Autumn, we may run more Charity Duplicates - Manchester County Cares - thank you all, once again, for your amazing support.

Enjoy the summer and stay well

Joy Blakey.
