The club was formed in 1955, initially playing rubber bridge but soon converting to duplicate.  The first multi-session competitions were introduced in 1958, a Pairs competition (the Championship Pairs, which has run continuously ever since) and an Individual competition (which finished in 1987).  Other competitions were introduced later.
