REOPENING ON 16TH AUGUST

♠   ♣

Lytham Bridge Club Reopening

Following recent Government advice and guidance we are now pleased to announce that we can reopen for face-to-face bridge on Monday 16th August. The committee has considered all aspects of reopening following the pandemic and is confident that it has taken the right measures to ensure the safety of our members while attending sessions. We shall be holding the following weekly sessions:

Monday afternoon 1:30pm
Tuesday afternoon 1:30pm
Wednesday evening 7:00pm
Friday afternoon 1:30pm
Saturday evening 7:00pm

Please note that we have introduced a new Monday afternoon session to replace the old Monday evening session, and that all evening sessions will start at 7:00pm.

Members have been sent a letter containing general information about the reopening - members can view the letter by clicking on the 'Reopening News' tab in the Members Information area on the menu on the left. We have also produced a reopening plan (click here) which details our Covid safety measures, and an explanation of our new cashless payment system (click here).

Lytham BBO Sessions

After the 16th August, the regular Wednesday evening and Friday afternoon BBO sessions will no longer take place because of the clash with the face-to-face sessions. Instead, a new regular Monday evening BBO session will take place with the first session on Monday 16th August at 7:30pm.

LANCASHIRE ONLINE PAIRS SESSIONS

♠   ♣

FROM 1st SEPTEMBER YOU HAVE THE OPPORTUNITY TO PLAY IN LANCASHIRE ONLINE PAIRS SESSIONS

EBU affiliated clubs in Lancashire have formed a partnership to offer their members a schedule of regular, well attended online duplicate pairs sessions on BBO, directed by professional but friendly TD’s.  Lytham Bridge Club has joined this partnership and you can start playing from Wednesday 1st September. Table money is £3 for an 18 board session, with payment direct to LCBA not to BBO, so you won't need any BBO$ on your BBO account.

LOP sessions will offer you:

- A regular schedule to choose from;

- Open sessions and sessions only for NGS 10 & below and NGS 7 & below;

- Masterpoints and NGS;

- Regular competitions with prizes for Open and NGS 7 and below.

Lytham Bridge Club will receive your table money, after costs are deducted, which will help the club financially.

If you are interested in taking advantage of this new service, you can find out all the details including how to register by clicking HERE.

We do hope you find some sessions that are convenient and enjoyable. It’s a tremendous opportunity to play online with your friends and to meet new players across Lancashire and even beyond….  AND every session you play benefits the club!

The first session on Wednesday 1 September is FREE – LCBA are picking up all the costs!!

Lytham Bridge Club Survey

Lytham Bridge Club Survey Results

In response to our recent survey, we received 144 responses. We are very grateful for the big response because it will help us plan for the furure.

The results of the survey can be found by clicking here. A summary of the responses indicate that:

  • 90% of responders will continue to play at least as often as they did pre-lockdown.
  • A new Monday afternoon session might prove to be popular.
  • 70% of responders who play in the evening would prefer a 7:00 or 7:15 start time.
  • Online bridge will remain popular after we re-open.

Help During Lockdown

If any of our more vulnerable bridge club members are struggling in these lockdown days with shopping or other errands, help is on hand. Not everyone is lucky enough to have family living near so please contact Anne if you need a bit of assistance. And if you feel able to offer to help that would be excellent and much appreciated too.

Anne's mobile number is 07598775201 or email a.e.burgess@gmail.com

Lancashire Online Bridge League
♠   ♣
Lancashire Online Bridge League

The Lancashire Contract Bridge Association (LCBA) now runs an online teams-of-4 bridge league. This is a great opportunity for club players to form teams to continue playing bridge throughout the lockdown and beyond. Matches are played on BBO so you will need an account which is free and easy to set up. Each league 'season' lasts approximately two months, and the cost is £22 per team per season.

For further information please click here.

If you are interested in forming a team, please visit the LCBA website where you can register (click here). You can team up with players from other clubs - it is not necessary that a team consists of players all from Lytham Bridge Club.
Teaching Sessions on BBO
♠   ♣
Teaching Sessions on Bridge Base Online

Practice sessions are held on Mondays and Thursdays at 2.00 pm and hosted by Anne Burgess and Bill Bowden.

The sessions are held on BridgeBase Online and are relaxed and friendly and we do feel it would be a great pity if people forget all they have learnt. It's not quite the same as turning up at the club but for the moment is a pretty good substitute.

Please contact Anne if you would like to play at either or both of our sessions or leave a message for lizzie7777 on BBO.

WELCOME TO LYTHAM BRIDGE CLUB

♠ ♥  ♣

Lytham Bridge Club is located in the heart of Lytham St. Annes in our own purpose-built clubhouse bungalow. The club has a large comfortable playing area and all the facilities you'd expect from a well-supported club - a car park and ample street parking, easy access to the building, facilities for the disabled, and catering facilities with five star accreditation.

We are the only bridge club in the Lytham St. Annes area which is affliated to the English Bridge Union, which means our members all benefit from the support offered by the country's governing body. Our members automatically become members of the EBU so they have the opportunity to earn master points and be able to monitor their personal progress and compare it with other local and national players. They can also play in EBU-sponsored events. Lytham Bridge Club is over 60 years old so we have plenty of experience to help our members become better players.

Our regular sessions on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays are hosted sessions so you don't need a partner - if you come along on your own you will be guaranteed a game. We also have regular sessions on Mondays and Saturdays. Details below.
