Roman Keycard Blackwood §

Modern Roman Key Card Blackwood RKCB

Responses to 4N

5C 0 or 3
5D 1 or 4
5H 2 without the Q
5S 2 with the Q

1) Next suit if not the trump suit asks for the Q over 5C or 5D
Responses show the Q and side Kings

Example with HEARTS agreed
4N - 5C 1 key
5D asks for the Q
Then
5H don’t have it
5S, 6C, 6D I have the Q and the K in the suit I bid
5N I have the Q but no kings

2) If the asker bypasses the ask for the Q
5N confirms all Keys and asks for SPECIFIC Kings, not how many

Example with HEARTS agreed
4N - 5S
5N asks for kings
Then
6C/D/S show that King
6H no side King
6N 2 kings in any side suits

B) Modern Roman Key Card VOIDwood RKCV or Exclusion RKCB

Asks for Key cards outside the Void bid. Responses are as per normal RKCB

Example with HEARTS agreed

1H 2N game forcing with hearts
3H non minimum
Then
5D is VOIDwood
- 5H 0
- 5S 1
- 5N 2
- 6C 2+Q

C) Modern 5N - PICK A SLAM
Example
1C 1H
2H 5N pick a slam

If opener has only 3 hearts she will pick clubs or 6NT
If she has 4 hearts, she will pick 6H

nobody plays grand slam forcing anymore

Jivan and I had the following hands in Billericay
KT9
AJxx
Qxxx
Ax

AJx
KQxx
AKJ
QJx

1D 1H
2H 6N

Why did I choose 6N? Because many times we have to raise on 3 hearts from opener and because we did not play pick a slam.

Why not 7? Because it is 50% on a club finesse

Why 6? Because he should have 5 diamonds as we play short club, but we all use judgement...
