Richard Newson |
Richard, our Chairman, was diagnosed with cancer at the beginning of the year. Despite undergoing operations and chemotherapy he sadly passed away yesterday.
We are indebted to him for his outstanding work as Chairman. He was a valued Director of the club and a member for many years. We will miss him as a dear friend.
Our thoughts are with Liz, his wife, and his family at this sad time.

You are welcome to attend, after the service, at Chigwell Hall, High Road, Chigwell, IG7 6BD.
Floral tributes may be sent through Francis and Walters, undertakers, 121 High Street, Wanstead, E11 2RL.

KEEPING TO TIME |
♠ ♥ ♦ ♣
To help achieve a timely (10.30) finish, play will start at 7.20 (not 7.30) so all players are requested to arrive by 7.10 and to be seated and ready to play by 7.20 pm prompt. Also, we will use a timer on a regular basis. This may mean that sometimes you will be asked not to play a hand if your table is behind, in the interest of maintaining progress towards a timely finish. This isn't usually a criticism or a penalty (though you may be penalised if you're consistently slow) - it's just necessary to keep to time.
