Protocol for bridge updated March 2022

Introduction to protocol for the running of bridge sessions

The Club will aim to provide the safest environment reasonably possible, but recognises that Covid-19 risk cannot be eliminated completely.  Players must therefore make their own decision as to whether they feel confident to attend and play bridge face to face (FtF).  Following the Government's lifting of the Plan B measures, there is no legal requirement to wear face masks in indoor settings such as libraries.  This protocol was last updated on 14 March 2022 and will be the subject of periodic review by the Committee.

Requirements for players

Members and visitors must:

  • Act in accordance with the Club’s protocol.
  • Confirm their Covid-19 vaccination status and contact details.  The Committee would reserve the right to refuse entry to anyone eligible for vaccination who has not been vaccinated.
  • Not attend any FtF session if displaying any potential Covid-19 symptoms or if subject to any self-isolate requirement whether as a result of travel, contacts or instruction from Track & Trace.

It is no longer mandatory to wear a face covering within the venue. As a courtesy to other players, members and visitors are requested to observe appropriate social distancing and to use hand sanitiser on entry to the venue.

The Club aims to reduce cash handling, but will continue to accept cash payments.  Players may transfer monies direct to the Club’s bank account, for instance by paying in £20 to cover their table money for 4 sessions.  A bank card reader may also be available to take payments at certain sessions, but these incur a handling charge for the Club.

Requirements for bridge

Tables will be spaced at appropriate distances for the venue.

At the end of the final round of the FtF session, players at each table will redeal the boards in preparation for the next FtF session before leaving directly through the designated exit while maintaining social distancing rules.
