Playing Pairs in a club competition with someone I hadn't played with before I picked up a 30-point hand. Well it was a first for me!
I opened 2♣ and partner as expected responds with a negative 2♦ .
Where do you go from here?

I couldn't see any way I could find out what partner had. If I invent a 2♥ or 2♠ bid to see what Partner does next I risk ending up in 4♥ or 4♠ in a 4-3 fit
I bid 6NT! Well it was almost Christmas :)
Partner had only one point but 5 Spades to the ♠ J, and the ♦ K was onside so I made the contract for a top.
Was I right? I don't know - but it was fun. |
