Welcome to Linda's Bridge Table

When Linda represented South Africa at the 1980 World Bridge Olympics in Valkenburg, Holland, bridge became her lifelong passion. Before this pivotal moment, she served as a Chief Medical Technologist in Clinical Pathology, managing a laboratory at a children’s hospital in Johannesburg. Inspired by her international experience,

Linda began teaching bridge at beginner, intermediate, and advanced levels, leading three classes daily for 45 years. She represented South Africa again at the world level in 1992 and 1993. After relocating to the United States as a World Olympic and international bridge player, she further honed her expertise by attending advanced teaching courses.

She authored Bridge-Wise on conventions and defense in the 1980s and co-wrote Solid Gold Tips to Winning Bridge with Kathie Wei-Sender in 2005. A versatile player, she excels in multiple systems, including Acol, Precision, and Standard American. Now living in Florida, Linda is a dedicated bridge teacher, lecturer, and professional player, sharing her expertise on cruise ships, at country clubs, bridge clubs, and community centers in Boca Raton, Delray Beach, and Palm Beach. For the past three years, she has been a Zoom teacher for Community Games, with lessons available on YouTube.

My Brand-New Course - Bidding to Success

Bidding to Success – A New Approach to Bridge Bidding

Does Bidding Feel Like a Mystery?

If you've ever sat at the bridge table feeling confused about what to bid, you're not alone. Many students tell me that bidding is the most challenging aspect of learning bridge. Unlike playing the cards, which follows a logical sequence, bidding can feel overwhelming, like you need to memorize hundreds of sequences without truly understanding why you're making each bid.

Beginners often struggle with bidding because:

  • It feels like memorization overload – endless conventions and sequences to remember
  • Uncertainty at the table – "What does partner's bid mean? What should I bid now?"
  • Lack of confidence – second-guessing every decision
  • Difficulty seeing the 'big picture' – understanding the goals behind the bids
  • Pressure to respond quickly – while your mind races through possibilities

These hurdles can make bidding feel stressful rather than enjoyable. But it doesn't have to be this way!

Here’s A Better Way to Learn Bidding

"Bidding to Success" takes a completely different approach. Instead of rote memorization, we focus on understanding the logic and principles behind bridge bidding. Through interactive quizzes and carefully pre-dealt hands, you'll learn to:

Think, Don't Just Memorize

Understand why certain bids work, not just what to bid. When you grasp the underlying principles, the right bid becomes clear (and no memorization needed).

Build Confidence Through Practice

Work through real bidding problems in a supportive environment. Each quiz helps you develop the judgment and reasoning skills that make bidding decisions feel natural.

See the Connection

Play hands directly related to the bidding sequences you've just studied. This reinforces the "aha!" moments and shows you how bidding decisions directly impact play.

Develop Your Bidding Judgment

Learn to evaluate your hand, understand partner's messages, and make logical bidding choices based on sound principles rather than fear or guesswork.

What Makes This Course Different

Interactive quiz format – actively engage with the material rather than passively listening
Pre-dealt hands – see your bidding decisions come to life in actual play
Focus on understanding – learn the "why" behind bidding choices
All levels welcome – whether you're a beginner or looking to strengthen your bidding foundation
Proven methodology – developed from my successful ABTA presentation on integrating students through quiz formats

By the end of this course, you'll:

  • Approach the bidding table with confidence instead of confusion
  • Make bidding decisions based on logic and understanding, not memorization
  • Communicate more effectively with your partner through better bidding
  • Feel less stressed and more in control during the auction
  • Actually enjoy the bidding phase of the game
  • See immediate improvement in your overall bridge results

Play & Learn Sessions

Come join our cozy group of just 6 tables where you'll actually enjoy improving your game! We'll dive into 7/8 hands together each week, and here's what I love about this format – everyone plays the same deals. We will discuss each hand straight after you have played it . You cannot forget what you have  played   while it is still fresh in your mind. You'll have that "aha!" moment when you see what you could have done differently.

The bridgemates keep score for us (no math required!), and we have a fun lucky draw each week for just $15. But honestly, the real reward is in those hand discussions where you'll start recognizing patterns and thinking like the experts do. I've seen players make months of progress in just a few sessions when they understand the "why" behind each play.

As your instructor, I'll be right there to help you spot the opportunities you might miss and guide you away from those tricky spots that can trip up even experienced players. Plus, the friendly competition keeps things interesting while preparing you for real club games.
