Entry for our tournaments is usually open from two hours before the start time.
WE STRONGLY RECOMMEND THAT YOU ENTER AS EARLY AS POSSIBLE TO GIVE US TIME TO MAKE CHANGES IF YOU ENCOUNTER ANY PROBLEMS
To find the tournament, sign in to BBO and Click on Competitive.
Now click on All Tournaments and a list of tournaments will appear.
Above the column marked Entries you will see the word 'Search'
Type Larkhill - note that usually the first three letter will suffice
This should display our tournament below
Click on it - NOTE you MUST click on the white space and not the name adam 13 which is shown in blue - and it will offer you the opportunity to register with a partner.
You must type your partner's BBO screen name in. The system doesn't mind whether you use capitals or lower case but numbers, spaces and other characters must be exactly as in the screen name. BE CAREFUL! If you enter the wrong name it may be a valid user and you will be inviting someone else.
If you are unable to register because it says that you or your partner is blocked then please send a private message via BBO to adam 13 immediately with both of your screen names. We will try to fix this problem and will respond to you.
If you don't have a partner please let add yourself to the partnership desk. Click here for a video on how to do that.
We recommend that you and your partner should sign in to BBO and register (if you haven't done so earlier) NO LATER than 30 minutes before the tournament starts. It is actually better to attempt to enter at least one hour and preferably 90 minutes before the tournament starts as this gives more time for me to put things right if there are any problems. once you've successfully entered you can log off and then log back on again 10 or 15 minutes before the start.
Our round lengths are 8 minutes per board. If you finish early how about having a chat with your opponents? The reason we are running these duplicates for Larkhll members is to encourage the social interaction during this enforced holiday from face to face bridge so please take advantage of it.
Please remember to claim as early as practical which helps keep the tournament moving. Opponents, please accept claims quickly if they are valid.
SINCE THE BBO UPGRADE IT IS CRUCIAL THAT YOU CLICK ON COMPETITIVE WHEN YOU SIGN BACK IN. IF YOU ARE IN THE CASUAL PART OF THE SITE YOU MAY NOT GET TO JOIN THE TOURNAMENT.
Results will appear on your screen shortly after all the tables have finished playing the last board. They will also be shown on this website displaying all the correct player names. See the Results tab in the Menu. Adjustments may be made within 20 minutes of the end of the tournament and they will be included in the results shown on our Manchester Events website.
Two important points.
Please ensure that your BBO profile includes your real name so that the TD and your opponents can see who you are. Click here for a video on how to add your real name to your BBO profile
You must self alert, i.e. you alert your own bids. This is a requirement of BBO online bridge. If you forget then an oppponent may 'ask' in which case a yellow box pops up. Please explain your bid and write a description which is appropriate and accurate. You also need to self alert your no trump range when you open 1NT or 2NT together with the strength of your natural two and three level bids.
Click here for a video on self alerting on BBO.
NOTE that self alerts are MANDATORY for ALL relevant bids up to and including 7NT redoubled.
