♣ ♦ A great time was had by all!!♥ ♠

Sixteen enthusiastic bridge players from the Kyle of Lochalsh Bridge Club, visited Killin Hotel last week, for an intensive teaching bridge holiday with our local professional teacher/player Mark Lincoln as lecturer.

Mark gave us a challenging 2 day programme of seminars, play and review,  including Hand Evaluation, Competitive Bidding and Winning Tactics. High power stuff indeed!

Everyone thoroughly enjoyed the course: the ambiance, food, rooms and staff in the Killin Hotel, were all exemplary. Thank you, Killin. We had a ball, and we’ll be back!

The happy connection between Mark and the Skye and Lochalsh players began in 2020 when he kindly helped our small but active club to play online during COVID, allowing us to continue playing this wonderful mind sport while stuck in our homes, thus preserving our sanity!

Now we’ve bounced back, playing Face2Face twice a week in Kyleakin and once a week on RealBridge.

Furthest travelled award?

We’re not sure exactly  what the chocolate orange prize was for….maybe the furthest travelled? It was lovely to welcome long distance members Harriet and Guido Galantes looking much bigger than they appear on RealBridge!

Renewal of KoLBC membership

Its time to renew your annual Club Membership.

The membership fee for 23/24 has been set at £15.00 – this includes the £12.00 fee for membership of the Scottish Bridge Union which the Club pays direct to the SBU on your behalf. It would be helpful if renewals could be made by the end of this month if possible.

To pay for your membership please either transfer the £15 fee to the Club’s bank account – or you can pay it to John MacDonald if attending a regular Club night. The  bank account details are as follows:-

Winners of the CaféBridge Day in Plockton

Congratulations to the winners of the 2025 Plockton CaféBridge, Pat Bohan and Mark Sheiham from London.
Second pair were Edinburgh pair, the new SBU Chair Sarah Gunn with Marina Evans. Our Mary Jane Campbell with Glasgow visitor Marion MacPhee came third closely followed by the Terry’s. Well done everyone!
Huge thanks to Tournament Directors Victor Lesk and Caroline Bottoms.
it was a super day in the sunshine with bridgers coming from Aberlour to Abergavenny! From Bridport to Sconser….

Extremely well hosted by the Plockton Hall committee. The Plockton Hall Roof Fund will receive £1,500 from the two events; The Night Before and the Day.
Marie Perry from North Berwick who won the VERY special bottle of whisky with the red 9 of Hearts was extremely delighted. Donated by the hall committee chair Jimmy Ferguson, the Pick a Card game raised £540.

Welcome back!

The Spodes were back in the Highlands!  They didn’t pick up the potatoes at Dunkeld nor the gold at Plockton….but they DID pick up the Sunday night trophy! Now that’s an annual triumph by KoLBC at the Newtonmore Swiss weekend.
Robert and Sara Spode in a team with Allison Dunn and David Pollard from Oban

And Robert kept everyone well entertained in the Manse….
