We are continuing on Wednesdays in The Lighthouse Centre, Kyle with the earler start time. Please arrive for a prompt start at 6.45.
A Grand day with Grandmaster Liz McGowan in Plockton. Bea MacDonald presented Liz with £450 at the end of the double coaching session. Greatly appreciated. And Jennifer Frances won the £50 voucher for Food or accommodation at the Plockton Inn. All good stimulating fun.
Mary Jane Campbell and Connie McCulloch after winning their section in the Teams consolation final tournament. It was a first congress for both of them and first time playing together. Great results.
Well done Steve and Gill!
We had 8 pairs playing in the Celtic ecats simultaneous pairs last week. Our scores were between 62% and 40% when calculated over the 211 pairs who competed in that round. Well done everyone. But particularly well done Steve and Gill who came 10th! Fantastic.
Congratulations to Alasdair Martin and Sue Egerton for coming top in Kyle of Lochalsh heat with 63.19%. Well done. But then our usual top team Robert and Sara Spode somehow crept ahead of them on the national scale and ended up 13 th overall with 58.8%. Alasdair and Sue dropped slightly to 19th place.
Grand results. Well done both pairs.
The next ecats tournament which we have entered in Thursday 15th November. It’s a charity one. For Children in Need.
Club member James Crisp was in The Plockton Inn today with his wife Cat obviously not playing in the Cafe Bridge day- but he did introduce his adorable son Leo to other bridge club members.
This event was run at Kyle of Lochalsh Hotel on Thursday 15th November. Five tables. Lynne Henderson of the Haven, Plockton kindly prepared the boards. Sara Spode, chairman, brought the cakes. The Kyle Hotel donated the teas and coffees. So we are now able to send the full £100 to the charity. Huge thanks to all who joined it and enjoyed the event. Well done John Mills and Jennifer Frances top NS with a great score. And well done too Steve and Gill Terry- top EW.
Scored nationally [that is throughout Britain], the overall results can be found on the ECATs website.
Who would have thought it? Our stylish John Mills and glamorous Jennifer Frances must be over 61! Here they are on Sunday competing in the Highland Diamonds tournament in Nairn. Well done!
The team of four from Inverness who helped us so much in our first year of being a club will return in November. Margaret Telford, Laura Ross, Jenni MacIntosh and Alasdair MacArthur will come by train, playing bridge all the way! Margaret will lead seminars on various topics and then we’ll play a lot of prepared hands. The dates start Thursday 15/11. Four Thursday afternoons. We only cover their train fares. They ask for nothing. It’s really really great of them to do this. And last year helped us hugely. It’s challenging. Good fun too. Please give Miriam your names to confirm your place. Also any topics that you would like discussed. Bridge topics please!
