Club competitions

The club runs two types of competitions:

One-off events

Wishart Trophy (TEAMS of four).

Handicaps are calculated for each pair, this handicap being based on scores from the preceding season.  Teams are made up by pairing high-handicapped pairs with low-handicapped pairs.

Members will be asked to sign up for this event two weeks before it takes place to enable calculation of handicaps.

Handicapped Teams of four

Handicaps are calculated for each pair, this handicap being based on scores from the preceding season.  Teams are made up by pairing high-handicapped pairs with low-handicapped pairs.

Members will be asked to sign up for this event two weeks before it takes place to enable calculation of handicaps.

Cumulative events finalised at the end of the year

Club Championship Trophy

This is awarded to the pair with the highest average score over the period of the championship.

It is an Annual Major Championship, attracting an aggregate bonus to the winning pair of 225 local points, with awards being made to the top third of qualifiers in equal decrements.

The score is calculated as the average of the best 12 percentage scores from 18 pairs events played on and between the opening night and the week preceding the AGM .  A pair must play a minimum of 12 events to qualify.

Interim ranking is calculated on a weekly basis and posted under the "Competitions" button on the website.

Devaney Trophy (Handicapped pairs)

This is awarded to the pair with the highest cumulative score, with handicaps applied to all players on the basis of their performance in the preceding season.

The score is calculated as the average of the best 12 percentage scores from all pairs events played on and between the opening night and the week preceding the AGM .  A pair must play a minimum of 12 events to qualify.

Interim ranking is calculated on a weekly basis and posted under the "Competitions" button on the website.

Allan Trophy (Progress Over Year)

Cumulative scores are compared for all pairs competitions played before and after Christmas.  The trophy is awarded to the pair with the largest post-Christmas improvement in their score.

Individual Trophy

This is awarded to the individual with the highest cumulative score over the season

The score is calculated as the average score from all pairs events played on and between the opening night and the week preceding the AGM .  A player must play a minimum of 12 events to qualify.

Interim ranking is calculated on a weekly basis and posted under the "Competitions" button on the website.
