WE ARE THE HOME OF YOUTH BRIDGE IN MARTIN COUNTY

The Khatib Bridge and Education Center has a history of supporting youth Bridge almost from its inception. Reza and Georgie Khatib had continued in their desire to support youth programs from earlier projects when the lived in New York. In 2013, the Khatibs' financial support and the newly consolidated Bridge Center in Stuart launched with ACBL help a school-centric youth Bridge program called Youth Bridge in Martin County, led by club members Judy Thompson and the late Sonya Gray as project coordinator, and with the help of players such as Bridge club member Jerry Shaw, club manager Harry Falk, Bridge Director Sally Swing and other member volunteers.

The project was active for over two years and built student membership in four Martin County schools before unfortunately ending due to relocation of key staff members, and later suffering Sonya's untimely death. There were also difficulties with increased security requirements imposed on prospective mentors and project volunteers.

Fast-forward to Spring 2025 when the Bridge Center formally collaborated further with the Khatib Foundation to support Youth Bridge.

The Center now receives an annual endowment from the Khatib Foundation, and will contribute 25% of it each year to the Jumpstart Bridge Initiative, founded by Grand Master Patricia Tucker and operated with the full endorsement of the ACBL. We hope for great potential growth in Martin and surrounding counties, and Florida at large, and hope to enjoy the positive results of Patty's project Center's support provides to the national Jumpstart Bridge program, active in many states across America.
