Privacy Policy

General Data Protection Regulation Privacy Notice

Data protection regulation is extremely important to ensure that personal information is kept securely and used only for the right purposes. The Committee have been complying with the current laws since they came into force in 1998

From 25 May 2018 the law has changed to tighten further the protection of personal data. Under the new laws one of the things we must do is to communicate formally to all the members of the Club to explain how your personal data will be used, who will have access to it and what new rights you will have.

The Club member data is never sold to other organisations and is never used so that other organisations can sell you their products or services.

Why do we use your personal data?

We will only use your data as necessary to function as a bridge club in order to communicate with you about club functions and general administration.

What is personal data?

Personal data is information that could be used to identify you as an individual. The personal data we hold is limited to your name, EBU number, home address, email address and telephone number(s).

Who has access to my data?

The Treasurer to the Club needs access to some of that data in order to advise members of the Club of subscriptions due from time to time. In addition members of the Committee may need access to data to inform members of the Annual General Meeting, any special meetings, social functions, club events and any other information the Committee decides should be communicated to the membership.

Our membership data is shared with the English Bridge Union (“EBU”), the governing body of the game of duplicate bridge, and they will pass it on to your “county of affiliation” which is usually the Club’s primary county bridge association.

A limited amount of your information (name, EBU number, county, post town) will be listed in the EBU’s database made available for use by scoring program providers and users. This is to allow the correct identification of players for scoring purposes.

The EBU uses your postal address to send you the English Bridge magazine and annual diary.

Information relating to your National Grading Scheme (NGS) grade and master point rank, together with your county of affiliation, will be generally available from the EBU website unless you have chosen for it to be private. You can do this by logging on to My EBU -> Account -> My Details.

Your data may be processed by Bridgewebs that act as Data Processors on our behalf. They may only use it for the specific purposes for which they act as our data processors and they are not free to pass this on to other organisations that are not connected with Keyworth Bridge Club.

The Committee are committed to ensuring that your personal information is secure.

How long will you keep my personal data?

We will hold your personal data as long as you are a member of the Club.

What rights do I have?

You already have the right to see your own Club records and you can require that we rectify any errors in the data that we hold about you, but in addition, you will have the right to have your personal information deleted. However, as far as the Club is concerned, without some personal information your membership would be non-functional and as such you would not remain a member.
