Ellis Cup
Ellis Cup 2024-25 (Kendal BC Teams Championship).

Teams may consist of up to 6 players, all of whom must be members of the club of at least 3 months standing at the start of the competition.

Event to be played with 2 qualifying heats (Mon 16th Sept 2024 & Mon 21st Oct 2024) leading to a 4 team final night on Mon 18th Nov 2024.
There will be a separate teams event on 18th Nov for those who have not qualified for the finals.

Qualifiers for the finals night will be the two heat winners plus the two teams with the best total IMP scores over the two heats and not already qualified.
Should the same team win both heats then three teams qualify via the total IMPs list.

To qualify via total IMPs teams must have played both heats.

Should a team be unable to play in the finals without breaking the 6 player limit then their place goes to the next team on the total IMPs list.

Finals night will consist of 12 board semi-finals followed by 14 board final and 3rd/4th play off.
The draw for the semi-finals is Q1 v Q4 and Q2 v Q3 where
Q1 is the heat winner with the larger score on their winning night,
Q2 is the heat winner with the lower score, or the team qualifying via the IMPs list with the greatest total should the same team win both heats,
Q3 and Q4 are taken from the total Imps list in descending order of total Imps.

Ties for qualification are broken in the first instance by reference to head to head matches between the teams concerned, and then by total cross-imps of the pairs comprising the tied teams.

Ties on finals night are broken by the play of 2 extra boards, repeated as necessary.
